To think that grown men shouldn't remove their shirts when the weathers hot

In the last few days I've seen some sights, very overweight men walking around with no tops on. Why do they think they can remove their tops in hot weather and not give a flying fuck what others have to look at.
Yes I'm being bitchy. As for them removing them walking around Asda that's just wrong.
Rant over!

Ew gramercy! It's too intimate! My DDhas always pointed at men ith tops off and said "Look Mummy....I can see that mans big tummy! Yuk!"

I always hope they can hear her. Most pubs and shops here have a no topless rule.

DH once told me that he was BOIILING and took his t shirt off when he had got close to home and some lad in a passing car shouted "Top on!" at him...DH was Blushbut it made us laugh anyway....it's lazy and unattractive.

They might as well scratch their arses in public.

katvond · 05/06/2011 15:10

Sadly not here Don the amount of men walking about 1/2 naked this morning was unreal in Asda.

Agree men can only do this because we can't. Our bodies are taboo, theirs are just, well, bodies.

porcamiseria · 05/06/2011 15:23

depend on the man................

SpecialFriedRice · 05/06/2011 15:29

I actually don't have too much of a problem with it. Even on fat/hairy/mooby guys.

In restaurants and other eating places it should be top on. But outside then why not. Imagine how nice it is to feel a slight breeze all over on a hot day.

I haven't seen it too much so far this year, but there was a guy in the chippy the other night and it didnt bother me... Him being pissed and accompanied by what looked like his 2 pissed inbred sons bothered me more!!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 05/06/2011 15:32

YANBU. It's not context-appropriate. Neither is wearing swimwear (e.g. bikini tops with shorts/jeans) when away from the beach or pool, IMO.

I hate it. DH goes all Chappist and says it's uncouth. I notice he doesn't say it loud enough for the lobster-red/pasty fish-belly white vest-wearers to hear, though. Hmm

Bucharest · 05/06/2011 15:33

Well, I walked through town this morning and there was this woman, easily my age if not more (45+) in a shortish (ie not covering her necessaries....) see through kaftan thing, with her (gravity obeying) arse hanging out, clad in a thong bikini. Cars were crashing and men were stopping to stare......(in horror) You could virtually see her cervix.

BooyHoo · 05/06/2011 15:36

my EX takes his shirt off in hot weather- he's delicious. i dont mind in the slightest. Grin

ReshapeWhileDamp · 05/06/2011 15:36

Seriously, Bucharest? Shock She'd been sunbathing then and thought she'd put on her apres-swim beach cover-up on? I can't understand how some people can blur the division between beach behaviour and town behaviour. It's the same thing as wearing your PJs to go supermarket shopping.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 05/06/2011 15:47

we have a HUGE guy who lives down the end of the road...while he waits for the school transport for his son, he drapes himself on his front wall, with his nine month pregnant beer baby belly flapping about, all red and swollen and blotchy. Even in the winter. Even when we had that really really cold icy spell. He walks around in town like it too. He's gorgeous.

Also next door, I have a large group of young christian missionary guys (dont ask) who have some sort of End Time Training Regime going on in the back garden. They have affixed one of those pull up bars out the back, half way up the wall. Often when I am baking cakes in the kitchen (not a smug poncy boast, its what i do for a job) I look up to witness a half naked Christian relentlessly doing chin ups on the bar, right in my line of sight. They are all quite fit, however, and to be honest, at my time of life it is as exciting as it gets for me some days....

LolaRennt · 05/06/2011 15:57

YANBU!!!!!

Why do I have to wear a bra and a shirt and some sweaty skanky hairy bloke can just sit there moobs out??

I have see men with shirts off who have breasts, actual breasts larger than mine and that is perfectly fine. But seriously for some reason because I'm a female I got to wear a top.

And I think it is a good point how squeamish some people are about BF in public and think women shoudl do it in public toilets etc. How many men get asked to put their tits away?

pigletmania · 05/06/2011 16:05

YANBU at all. Who wants to see hairy, sweaty beer belly and moobs on display, especially in an eating place yuck. On the beach and at home fine, but keep your top on everywhere else. There are men walking around with no tops on with moobs bigger than mine, I would not be allowed to walk the streets topless, so why should men.

pigletmania · 05/06/2011 16:06

Good point Lola much rather see a bf mum than a big fat sweaty man sitting in a cafe with his tits on display, nobody asks the men to put them away, they are more offensive.

katvond · 05/06/2011 16:59

Booy if the mans delicious then I don't mind either :)
Sadly the men I've seen topless lately are far from it except DH of course ;)

HeadfirstForHalos · 05/06/2011 17:13

It can't be banned, my neighbours 20ish yo ds always washes his car topless when it's hot, you can see all the curtains for miles around twitching

ragged · 05/06/2011 17:28

Doesn't bother me a bit & think you're being a bit OTT. Women (of all shapes & sizes) go shopping in bikinis where I'm from, too, don't have an issue with that, either.

katvond · 05/06/2011 17:36

Ragged I'd have the same issue if it was a women doing the same

heleninahandcart · 05/06/2011 19:02

:D at Geraldinetheluckygoat I'd be feeling lucky baking all day

EssentialFattyAcid · 05/06/2011 19:08

Topless men in public grates on me unless at the beach

UsedToBePeedOff · 05/06/2011 19:09

Grin at Booyhoo's delicious ex.

BooyHoo · 05/06/2011 19:14

he really is, it's the only thing that makes me doubt my decision to end it!! Grin

geraldinetheluckygoat · 05/06/2011 20:31

I know, Heleninahandcart, when I'm ovulating I have to practically be physically restrained, all those virile young men lifting weights and leaping about next door!!

fairydoll · 05/06/2011 20:34

It must be a lot warmer where you lot live, that's all I can say.

COCKadoodledooo · 05/06/2011 20:51

YA(N)BU. Depends what's on display.

The gardener? No. The gardener's rugby/cricket playing 20-something yo son? Oh yes. Please.

Mandy2003 · 05/06/2011 21:02

Is it illegal or indecent exposure for women to be topless in places other than where it's expressly forbidden? I don't think I've ever known the answer to this?
