To go to town and blow a few hundred £ on clothes?

i know there will be the usual 'not if you dont have the cash, only if you are completely debt free, pay off your overdraft etc'

But ..... I look the same on every set if photos from the last 5 years holidays, and i swore this year id revamp my wardrobe.
I have lost tons of weight and toned up to a size 6-8 and i feel fab and want to spoil myself.

Now i dont need masses but would like a casual maxi dress, a nice pair of flat sandals, a few tops, 2 new bras, 2 new bikinis and a pair of cropped chino trouser things.

I have made a plan for the next 6 months and will clear my credit card this month (0% runs out and new card starts), pay holiday off, and clear the remaining £400 of my graduate overdraft, all by october.

So AIBU?

GO FOOOR IIIIT! You knew you were asking for 'permission' in the right place... Wink

sausagesandmarmelade · 04/06/2011 10:30

I don't understand why you would want to spread the payments if you have the money now...

What happens if your circumstances change...supposing you lost your job?

Why not just pay everything off at once?

52Girls · 04/06/2011 10:38

I think Mosschops is talking about a few clothes bits, Sausages. Not a mortgage.

Ephiny · 04/06/2011 10:39

It does sound like you have a lot of debt...but if you think you can afford it then why not. If you've lost lots of weight then your old stuff probably doesn't fit well or look good any more, and badly fitting bras are worse than useless.

If you only need a few basic items, it might be worth spending a bit more to get good quality that will last you a while, rather than a huge pile of cheap stuff. Especially bras and shoes, it's not worth buying them cheap IMO.

katvond · 04/06/2011 10:41

Go for it, it's your money OP but come back and tell us what you buy :)
I had a splurge yesterday in Asda on summer dresses for me abd DD and flip flops for DH, sometimes we need a nice treat so go for it :)

sausagesandmarmelade · 04/06/2011 10:41

ooh - put the claws away 52 (rolls eyes)

I think the OP can speak for herself...
Think I had a valid point...and would be interested in the OPs response

sausagesandmarmelade · 04/06/2011 10:44

I agree that it's worth buying quality stuff....

There are some lovely maxi dresses around. Have bought a couple recently from Monsoon and whitestuff.

katvond · 04/06/2011 10:45

And OP good for you on losing the weight
Enjoy the shopping :)

WhoAteMySnickers · 04/06/2011 10:48

Go for it, especially the bras. There's nothing worse than badly fitting underwear, it can make the most lovely well fitted clothes look hideous!!

TheFlyingOnion · 04/06/2011 10:49

I with the piles of cheap crap every time Grin

(actually I find lots of stuff in TK Max is good quality)

Al0uiseG · 04/06/2011 10:49

Go crazy, but first tell me your weightloss secrets please. :o

52Girls · 04/06/2011 11:06

Eh? Claws?...my perfectly valid response was being bitchy in your eyes? Blimey!

SunshineisSorry · 04/06/2011 11:09

Enjoy, not entirely sure why you are posting on here about it mind

katvond · 04/06/2011 11:18

tallulahxhunny · 04/06/2011 12:51

onceamai · 04/06/2011 14:59

You have budgeted for the expense, you are tiny and slender and will look fantastic whatevery you buy. Go and enjoy!

mosschops30 · 04/06/2011 19:42

Helloooooo.

Well i went shopping, with a list, but it didnt entirely go to plan as i had dd with me Smile
so i got a lovely maxi dress from oasis, roll up chino type trousers, a denim jacket and two nice vest tops.
I didnt manage to get the bras, bikini or spangly sandals Sad
Just didnt get time to go to bravissimo, will do it next weekend. Couldnt find any spangly sandals i liked, and bikinis are just impossibly small, who on earth do they make them for?

Spoilt dd a bit for her biryhday at the end of the month.

I will go on my own next week, but any sandals or bikini suggestions would be gratefully recieved Smile
