i get woken up mostly 6 am or 6.30 am by DD, i like to give her breakfast, dvd on and then do some bits ie hanging washing , general tidying. DH thinks im totally out of order and manic to do this. apparently it annoys him to hell and we had a big argument about it and he stormed out. i cant see what is the problem im not asking him to do it, usually he sleeps in!

Why not? I've had the washing machine on (cellar) and hung the washing out. We are an hour ahead of you, but it doesn't make any difference TBH.

sunnydelight · 02/06/2011 07:22

Sounds like a pretty efficient use of time to me, wish I was as well organized!

belgo · 02/06/2011 07:22

I've done the hoovering this morning already, the girls had upset the rice crispies.

And I cleaned the toilet and one of the children as they had diarrhea.

And put the dishes from last night away.

I'm ready to go back to bed.

handsoffmycake · 02/06/2011 07:23

YANBU. I get up at 6ish everyday and after a coffee and sorting DC I just get started on what needs doing.

What does your DH expect you to do? Sit around waiting for him to say its ok to get started? My DH is usually at work at 6am or if not he lies in until 9ish. He doesn't care what I am doing (though I don't hoover till 9am)

Did your DH say what you were expected to do for hours on end in the morning instead of tidying etc? Would he prefer to get up to all the jobs himself?

maras2 · 02/06/2011 07:24

Tell him to do one, cheeky get.

tallulahxhunny · 02/06/2011 07:34

Has he stormed out this morning? does he work? where has he gone?

sounds pretty strange to me, do you live in a flat maybe hes thinking about the neighbours?

troisgarcons · 02/06/2011 07:37

Im usually up at 4.30 - and the dishwasher and washing machine goes on. More or less everything gets done except the hoovering - that waits until a reasonable hour.

Tinkerisdead · 02/06/2011 07:39

I do it. It's usually my ironing slot whilst dd watches milkshake.

borderslass · 02/06/2011 07:40

YANBU I get up between 5.30-6 am and do all my washing and ironing every morning so it doesn't build up. I can't hoover until DH is up as he quite often works until 3 or 6 am, we are getting wood flooring put in this year can't wait as it means I'll be able to do all my downstairs before I leave to take DS to school at 8.I'm often not in the mood by the time I come back at 9.45.

pallymama · 02/06/2011 07:45

Of course YANBU! Why on earth would that annoy him? If he doesn't want you quietly pottering about when you get up with DD, maybe he should get up with her and leave you in bed! Or tell him he can get it all done(properly!) the night before, then there won't be anything that needs doing.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 02/06/2011 07:45

yanbu. if dd2 would deign to be put down, i'd be doing something constructive.
as it is i will just have to make do with mning Grin

hanaka88 · 02/06/2011 07:49

I've done the ironing, but the bedding in the machine, made breakfast and washed the dishes an am now watching Ben 10 before getting DS showered and dressed.

DP was very happy as he wanted his top ironed before word and since I was already there...
Your DH is odd

saffy85 · 02/06/2011 07:52

YANBU I've already cleaned the bathroom. It's my new obsession, no idea why apart from the bathroom cleaner (the smell of it) is my latest pregnancy craving. Also put the washing on the line and put the clean laundry away. Now if only I could be arsed to tidy up the front room....

breathing · 02/06/2011 07:54

Not BU. I always do some before 8 am

Longtalljosie · 02/06/2011 07:54

Why though? Does he think you're being passive aggressive / guilt-tripping him? Did you wake him up?

breathing · 02/06/2011 07:54

But I do have to go to work soon so i have to

ForeverNamechanging · 02/06/2011 07:55

YANBU The baby gets me up at 5:30 so i clean once he is all sorted. Usually i can get all the daily chores gone by 7-7:30 so it leave the rest of the day free!

napoleona · 02/06/2011 07:55

not today that he has stormed out, it was over the weekend. this is a constant cause of arguments though. im so sick of it, apparently im totally mad to want to get up and ''do things'' . btw we both work, and i do the lion share of dcs and housework without question. i just wanted to check that other people get up and do stuff that needs doing!

camdancer · 02/06/2011 07:56

Are you very loud and clunky when you are doing this, or maybe making lots of tutting noises or something? Otherwise I can't see how it affects him.

I do as much as I can in the mornings before 8am 'cos that is when DH is around to help with the DC's. When they are my sole responsibility I can't get as much done.

Megatron · 02/06/2011 07:56

YANBU. best time to do it IMO. DS is always up about half 5 no matter what time he goes to bed at. He comes to tell me he's up, we both go downstairs and he sits and draws 834 Ben 10 pictures while I start to get some housework done. I get loads done before DH and DD even wake up. I like the fact that I start the day with a clean lav!

napoleona · 02/06/2011 07:57

i think he maybe feels bad in the mornings because he drinks in the evenings!!

OP posts:
PigletJohn · 02/06/2011 08:00

My DP complained that I noisily opened a packet of biscuits at 10pm after she'd gone to bed.

Yours doesn't like being disturbed in the mornings.

It takes all sorts, right?

WoTmania · 02/06/2011 08:00

YANBU - when does he want you to do it? Is he the type who would also complain if you did it in the evenings because it cuts into 'couple-time' Hmm?

ballstoit · 02/06/2011 08:01

YANBU to be doing the housework, when else are you supposed to do it Confused.

I wonder whether you do big sighing and marty face when he gets up...can't honestly see why else he would be moaning. Even if you do though maybe he could get up every other day to avoid it.

LimburgseVlaai · 02/06/2011 08:02

Was he hoping for a morning quickie?
