YANBU at all. They'll have fun and you get some time to yourself. Everyone's a winner!

Rannaldini · 30/05/2011 07:46

will it make me a bad mother?

OP posts:
RueLaChesty · 30/05/2011 07:47

if you still have to pay then yes put them in!

even maybe just pick them up slightly earlier if you feel guilty? Although i wouldn't (feel guilty).

clappyhands · 30/05/2011 07:48

oohhhh i so would, but its closed Grin

how does it make you a bad mother? everyone needs time off every now and again

Rannaldini · 30/05/2011 07:54

the things you think you'll do before having them compared to what actually happens is insane

happymole · 30/05/2011 07:55

Do it! Do it!

I would but the bloody nursery is closed today

Mine goes in every Tuesday despite the fact I only work every other one.

Rannaldini · 30/05/2011 07:55

i have also considered sending the baby once she is 18 mths
imagine. if you will. a day alone.

Rannaldini · 30/05/2011 07:56

ah, amazing! I'm gutted my childminder isn't working today so DD is at home with me when I had a lot of work to do. Hadn't realised it was a bank hol until Saturday - DP is working as normal.

FakePlasticTrees · 30/05/2011 08:01

Mine's not open.

do it, you can compromise and pick them up a bit earlier and have spent some of the day soucing yummy food for dinner (am thinking banana cake, but that's just because I want banana cake).

Rannaldini · 30/05/2011 08:33

aren't you all supposed to kill me as this is aibu??

OP posts:
Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 30/05/2011 08:35

I'll kill you, but only because you've found a nursery which opens on bank holidays. I want one of those.

I've done this before, sent mine in for a day when I was on leave, and I just picked her up early so we had time to do something fun (go to the park) before the dinner/bath/bed grind. Everyone was happy.

DontCallMePeanut · 30/05/2011 08:35

I've just realised I've lost a day somewhere I thought today was Sunday... I really did!

DontCallMePeanut · 30/05/2011 08:36

And yes..., YABU! Only because DS's nursery isn't open.

microfight · 30/05/2011 08:38

Lucky you to have a nursery open today. Go for it, kick back and enjoy yourself. Catch up on some good TV and put your feet up. Why the guilt?

Clarabumps · 30/05/2011 08:40

do it! I used to put my ds into nursery an hour early so i could go for a coffee and read a paper before work. Now i'm a SAHM and i look back on those fond memories...ahh... I'd love a day to myself!x

SunshineisSorry · 30/05/2011 08:40

YABU if you don't!!! these opportunities don't present themselves very often - I would love to get some time alone or alone with DP, it has to be done - enjoy x

Lou222 · 30/05/2011 08:52

You are a bad mother, they probably won't even know who you are by the time you pick them up ! Grin

Rannaldini · 30/05/2011 09:06

I have discovered a new non judgemental aibu...have i entered a weird portal?
not even one person saying "why have children if you don't want to look after them?"

OP posts:
ihavenewsockson · 30/05/2011 09:17

YABU why have children if you don't want to look after them? Wink

Liby · 30/05/2011 09:20

This makes me sad - I can't wait to have children, but can't right now due to financial reasons. How awful that people who have a DC want to get rid of them!
You are selfish.

Ambi · 30/05/2011 09:25

I felt like you Lily before I had children too. It's easy to judge when you don't have the experience.

OP, lucky you for finding a nursery which is open bank holidays, ours is closed but still have to pay, DD is only in Mon and Fri so we get royally screwed Apr and May, the robbing bastards.

Liby · 30/05/2011 09:29

I can guarantee I will not feel like that. Why would you choose to have children, if you just want to stick them in a nursery when your at home. You could have a lovely day together doing lovely things.

Ambi · 30/05/2011 09:30

Liby sorry not Lily

Ambi · 30/05/2011 09:33

Ok, nip back in when you are a parent to let us know how high your horse is, Smile
