To think that our dd's very expensive boarding school ought to be capable of providing adequate medical care?

And not requiring my dh (who happens to be a surgeon, but nonetheless..) to drive through several counties in the middle of the night to assist at an operation?

Not entirely happy with the French teaching either but that's another thread...

You're crinkling again. I think it's pinned to your chest.

Ariesgirl · 28/05/2011 11:47

No, I have an even funnier trick! I have mail ordered a little magnet with which I am going to extract all Mam'zelle's hairpins from the her bun!!!!!!!!!!

I declare it to be the jape of the season!

Ariesgirl · 28/05/2011 11:47

(that would have been less unfunny without the extraneous "the" :()

Oh yes, you are right. I'm going to dig mine out, invent an illness that requires staying in bed all half term, and read the lot.

I know. I consider it to be a bit of a misjudgement to be honest. I mean, I know she is good at lacrosses and tennis and is bright and will go to St Andrew's and her father is a famous surgeon, but I consider Sally to be a more reliably option. She never slaps girls in swimming pools or wrestles with cheats on the floor of the second formroom at midnight.

I smell another epic fail on the gaga thread.

OMG ! You live driving distance from your DDs school ? How common !

alistron1 · 28/05/2011 13:52

Hello, I'm the manly Miss Peters. I don't mind being woken up in the night by tomboyish pupils in order to inspect the thrashing beasts that they like to feel between their sturdy thighs.

Alicia has very good brains though: Darrell only does well if she works awfully hard, and Sally is a better influence for that.
Leaving Alicia free to enjoy Betty and her clever pencil.

Darryl's shove wasn't the cause of the illness it was appendicitis.the girl had had this little affair coming on for months.

fairydoll · 28/05/2011 14:59

No Belinda has the clever pencil.Betty is the 'live wire' from West Tower.

flyingspaghettimonster · 28/05/2011 15:04

Well my 3 are at Whiteleaf, such a good matron there - she was an absolute star when sweet little Arabella contracted mad cow's disease from the steak tartare... it is amazing what a cup of bovril and a week in the san can cure...

Oh, you're right, yes - Betty is Irene's friend isn't she?

Irene of the musical scatterbrain, whose Tunes went things like 'tarranty too, tarranty too, woosha woosha woosha'.

If your dd had gone to the Chalet school, she could have been whisked along the road to a world class sanitorium, where there are any number of talented doctors waiting to treat her (it gives them something to do whilst they are waiting to marry a member of the School staff).

And the french teaching there is second to none. Even the dullest girl will pick up a fair level of conversational french when she has to use it all day (including in lessons, written work and prep) twice a week. She will also learn German the same way.

Betty was indeed Alicia's best friend, but they had to be in different towers for the sanity of the staff. Who knows what high jinx those naughty girls would have got up to otherwise?

Belinda was the artist.

LeQueen Irene was the maths genius who was also wondeful at music. I'm thinking of entering her for Britains Got Talent actually. I think playing one of her own dum de dum de whoosha compositions would go down a treat, and for an encore, she could do some algebra. That's if she remembers to turn up, the loveable scatterbrain...!!!
