I walked past the house of a family who I do know but not terribly well and I am aware there middle daughter is being bullied.

outside was a group of girls looking in through their window shouting and jeering and swearing. I know the mum works some afternoons so I did intervien and tell the group of girls to leave them alone and move away from the house...in hindsight a bit silly of me as I did have my 5 yr old dd with me, but I wasn't in any way afraid forour safety or anything. Turns out the mum was home and she also then came out. They took the message and went away, but then followed me up the street shouting and swearing and berating me. It was laughable really but attempted to call non emergency police no just to show the little shits they can get away with behaving like this, but my bloody mobile died on me.

Anyway I have been trying to call the school since 3.30 and no one has been available to take my call, and have just now been told all senior management staff left at 4.15 and receptionist cant locate any other teaching staff. no one will be in over half term. now I m shocked that the head did not pick up his answer messages before leaving the school for a whole week, I had left one message at 3.30 and one at 4pm. I find it hard to even believe the head of a secondary school would even finish at 4.15.

Im tempted to call the non emergancy no again to give the message to the school this not acceptable, but Im sure this is very little the police would even be able to do.

also I want to say bunch of little bitches how horrible for a group of girls to behave like this!!!!!

Pinot- cheers

C'mon tom, you need to get in the holiday mood. Its done. My head and all teachers had gone before me tonight when I left at 4:45pm. Tumbleweed in car park. But we have had 3 deaths, 2 funerals and more tears than you can ever imagine. Teaching is a huge job, and this small mistake, whilst annoying, does not really mean all that much. Record details and report after the hols.

kangers · 27/05/2011 20:55

Now I'm dancing- see you in 3 hours

TheFlyingOnion · 27/05/2011 20:57

I'll be unconscious and snoring in 3 hours with an empty bottle of wine

KittySpencer · 27/05/2011 20:57

OP, I actually don't think YABU, only in so far as you're being unrealistic expecting any teachers in the average state school to be on the premises more than a few minutes after school finishes.

Yes, I'm sure there are lots of terribly worthy teachers who do lots of extra hours, go in early and stay late, but frankly there were none at the school I attended nor that attended by my DC. DS1's school starts at 8.30am. The majority get in well after 8am, and at both schools the car parks are empty at best 30 mins after school.

What should have happened when you phoned (if the person who put you through to the head's answer phone had any reasonable level of intelligence) was you should have been told Ms/Mr X was in a meeting/had left for the day/was on a call (delete as applicable) AND that he/she probably wouldn't be able to return your call today. They should have offered another member of the teaching staff if any were available. Putting calls through to voicemail is extremely sloppy, and something I am constantly pullling up my junior staff for. Unless of course the caller has said they are happy to leave a message rather than speak to someone directly.

I'd report to the police now. When you do, tell them you tried to go via the school but had no luck. Leave the police to deal as appropriate.

ravenAK · 27/05/2011 20:59

What exactly could the Head have done, OP, other than smooth your ego a bit? He/she is not actually empowered to turn up on the bullies' doorstep & give 'em whatfor.

For that, you need the police. I believe one or two helpful posters have tried to explain this.

Just leave brief 'phone message at school, explain that there'll be an email with description of miscreants to follow - school will deal with it after half term.

TheFlyingOnion · 27/05/2011 21:00

come with raven, come with, its half term!!!

I think the OP has wisely left the building (like the teachers?)

kangers · 27/05/2011 21:01

Kitty you must live somewhere really shitty to have had such sloppy teachers? But then I know that everyone in paid employment turns up for work 2 or 3 hours before their contracted start time, and leave 2 or 3 hours afterwards, so I take your well made and tought-provoking point.

kangers · 27/05/2011 21:02
