It must be that I am older than Gabby and Ed. Porta cabins did not feature in my schooling. Was it about cabins being brought in as extra classroom. I dont think you could have a porta cabin school I dont think Gabby and Ed would get on. Did you have a porta cabin education?

I think the generic name is demountable or prefab. Or hut.

listeningstick · 26/05/2011 21:45

I am surprised by the number of posters on this site who find it difficult to articulate a point without resorting to abuse or foul language.

MrsCog · 26/05/2011 21:46

We had loads of portacabins and I can wholeheartedly say that I don't think it affected the quality of education at all. Obviously it's not ideal, but I don't see any importance attached to the issue.

Georgimama · 26/05/2011 21:47

We don't find it difficult. It's just more fucking fun that way, listeningstick.

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 26/05/2011 21:48

Fuck.

meliesmummy · 26/05/2011 21:48

listeningstick there's no abuse or foul language on this thread...just a nice chat about portacabins (or have I missed something?!) Hmm

ZXEightyMum · 26/05/2011 21:50

That's fair enough.

I had a terrapin tank which looked like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/m/mxzidd3iW2HWC9YjeaQNSow/140.jpg&imgrefurl=www.shopadilly.co.uk/Products/terrapin%2Btank&usg=__Qo06h7AeIlXlaUZkwXCmr_Nl1Xs=&h=105&w=140&sz=4&hl=en&start=33&sig2=lfliiJFbDw3o9Tr3lqO-hg&zoom=1&tbnid=t6_rKYki9OIgRM:&tbnh=84&tbnw=112&ei=jLzeTcy1OcGy8gPv5ciUCg&prev=/search%3Fq%3DTerrapin%2Btank%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DG%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26biw%3D1728%26bih%3D772%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=308&page=2&ndsp=36&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:33&tx=58&ty=54&biw=1728&bih=772" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this Palm tree and all.

Filled with cold water Sad

But I was only a child and was educated in a demountable classroom for a few weeks so I feel that I should be excused.

SpringHeeledJack · 26/05/2011 21:51

we had 'em- late seventies, early eighties

we thought they were quite posh Grin

PatriciaHolm · 26/05/2011 21:51

We had Nissen huts where I did A levels! Very cold in winter and hot in summer. I think they finally went about 10 years ago...

TheOldestCat · 26/05/2011 21:51

thanks MmeBlueberry

Jenstar21 · 26/05/2011 21:52

Another one here who had a fair amount of my education delivered in one of 'the huts'! Not in London, but in cold old Scotland. It was the one part of the school where we were allowed to keep our coats on in the classroom!

listeningstick · 26/05/2011 21:52

I rest my case....

Sqee · 26/05/2011 21:53

I fucking loved those bastarding huts!

I quite liked the porta-cabins at our school.

SpringHeeledJack · 26/05/2011 22:01

listeningstick are you just picking random threads and posting about swearing?

listeningstick · 26/05/2011 22:08

Your offspring I am sure would be proud of your limited vocabulary, assuming that is you can read words composed of more than five letters. I genuinely despair at obviously low IQ`s levels and perhaps sadly this is endemic of the society we live in today.

Georgimama · 26/05/2011 22:10

If your IQ was a bit higher you would know that plurals don't have apostrophes.

No fucking need to thank me.

Sqee · 26/05/2011 22:11

fuckdingerdickbake!

SpringHeeledJack · 26/05/2011 22:11

my little cunts swear like sailors

pssst- stick- if you look upthread, folk only started swearing after you'd posted about swearing

as someone said, we had previously been having a nice chat about huts

SpringHeeledJack · 26/05/2011 22:14

fwiw, there are a lot of forums (fora? Blush) where you can't swear, so naturally a lot of folk like to come on here, smell the fresh sweary air, and use curse words

perhaps you might feel happier on a less sweary site?

[helpful]

RatherBe · 26/05/2011 22:16

We had huts and portacabins - the education, not the building, is what matters!

Sqee · 26/05/2011 22:16

Yes! Go to Google and type Mums Net in reverse!

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 26/05/2011 22:34

simplesally · 26/05/2011 22:35
