to take a sickie, to let my children take a sickie and spend tomorrow under the duvet eating junk , watching cartoons and laughing?

We are all knackered. DD1 cried on the way home from ballet she is so knackered (she's 15!). DD2 is tetchy and knackered, I am unbelievably, utterly, exhausted.

I am sorely tempted to just not get up tomorrow.

Except DD1 would miss revision stuff (GCSEs), DD2 shouldn't be encouraged to skive and if I don't go to work they will be short staffed, my colleagues would have to work harder and the poor public would be neglected.

But I want to have a duvet day so very badly.

Added to the above, Tomorrow is the last day before half term and I have 10 days off too.

but I am very very tired.

Bless you - I SO know that feeling.

Wine, bed, and a seriously chilled weekend.

It could be worse - it could Monday :)

maypole1 · 26/05/2011 21:22

Once a year its a must lol

MissBetsyTrotwood · 26/05/2011 21:23

She'll probably be given lots of revision stuff to do over half term tomorrow. If she's not there she'll miss it.

Think how much sweeter tomorrow evening will be... Enjoy the Wine

Crevix · 26/05/2011 21:23

Shock MN is not essential? Shock Confused surely you jest?

ManicAnnie · 26/05/2011 21:24

Don't do it. You will spend the holidays feeling guilty.

I agree with the posters who have said Pjs on as soon as you're home tomorrow and enjoy a lazy weekend.

Mitzimaybe · 26/05/2011 21:25

Yes YABU.

Guitargirl · 26/05/2011 21:27

Disclaimer: am only jealous as I wish my DCs would allow us to have duvet days. Have tried it and it lasts for about 10 minutes then they jump all over me and drag me to their scooters ,

JoanofArgos · 26/05/2011 21:27

only one more day until bank holiday weekend.... grit your teeth!

Of course, Maypole with her rigorous notions about education is sure to disagree.....

Crevix · 26/05/2011 21:38

ok,ok, fine, i'm going. humph. i'm not happy though..... humph humph........

maypole1 · 26/05/2011 22:19

Oh Joan thread stalking me to trade insults dear oh dear.

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 26/05/2011 22:21

Ignore everyone.

Have a duvet day, all of you wear PJ's and watch movies, order an afternoon pizza and chocolate chunk ice cream from dominoes pizza and eat it straight out of the carton. Don't get dressed till Saturday.

And tomorrow afternoon call DD's school and get them to email the revision stuff.

Go on... do it ;)

I'm going to!

JoanofArgos · 26/05/2011 22:22

I can click where I like, but with your eddycashun is the bestest thing ever and stayte skewls are shit schtick, I'm surprised to hear you say that sickies are acceptable, Maypole.

sneezecakesmum · 26/05/2011 22:25

I took a sickie (NOT) weekend because my bastard employer cancelled all my annual leave and gave me shit all apart from a few odd days and a couple of weeks. AFTER the bastards OKd all of it last year.

I never took sickies before but bastard employers deserve bastard lying employees - like me!

LordOfTheFlies · 26/05/2011 22:27

My two have an inset day and I don't work FridaysGrin.
Oh, did I just type that?
It's not what you wanted to read!LOL

wordfactory · 26/05/2011 22:28

Oh I'd be sorely tempted.
DC have been working their arses off...I've been working my arse off. We haven't seen DH for days.

But no...it's Friday tomorrow and then bank holiday weekend and then half term. So chin up.

thisisourtime · 26/05/2011 22:31

Bless you, I felt like this this this morning faced with another day of looking after a nearly three year old and an 11 month old.

DD2 doesn't sleep and we're keeping a sleep diary at the moment.

Here is last night's entry - see if it doesn't make you feel less tired:

Times DD2 woke up after going to bed at 7:

19:40
20:45
21:25
21:35
01:00
02:30
03:15
05:15

Then up for the day at 6 (and that was a lie in).

So, er, to summarise. Just push on through, you will be fine!

COCKadoodledooo · 26/05/2011 22:33

We have tried very very hard not to mention that ds has an inset day tomorrow, and that it's a duvet day here, because dh has to go in. Like you Crevix he's absolutely shattered, but he has to go in to teach GCSE/A level revision classes Wink

He doesn't even get all of half term off either, because he's going in to tutor some of his more conscientious students on a couple of days.

thisisourtime · 26/05/2011 22:34

I should qualify that it took us from 21:35 to 23:35 to get her back to sleep as well!

ThatllDoPig · 27/05/2011 09:05

thisisourtime I had one like that and it is utterly exhausting beyond words. In the end I just had to toughen up as I had another baby coming and knew I couldn't cope with any less sleep. I left him crying for five mins before comforting him, then ten mins, then fifteen mins. Just said "time for bed, night night". The consistancy really paid off, quite quickly too. Good luck

ThatllDoPig · 27/05/2011 09:07

crevix we are all thinking of you. . . what did you decide to do?

Gay40 · 27/05/2011 09:13

I'm a bit strict and old-fashioned about stuff, but I don't see anything wrong in having the occasional "flyer". Just not the day before half term week. Save it for another day.
I'm in much the same position - DD is shattered today and we could all do with sitting about in our pyjamas. However....

Gay40 · 27/05/2011 09:14

I have to add that consideration for my colleagues would not be a factor in my decision making. Only the timing aspect with school etc.

AnonymousBird · 27/05/2011 09:20

Methinks she has gone to work (and quite right too!) Wink

noddyholder · 27/05/2011 09:22

Send the kids to school but have a day off yourself and sleep recharge and really get it together over the weekend. Easy food no going out or alcohol and early nights. Really works
