. . . so I can shoot the drunks who were just slightly a bit rude to me while I walked the short distance from my car to my house?

OP posts:
troisgarcons · 19/05/2011 22:51

Gosh! what would you wish for if they were very rude?

manicbmc · 19/05/2011 22:51

Napalm? Grin

HRHShoesytwoesy · 19/05/2011 22:56

a water gun would be good though

LordOfTheFlies · 19/05/2011 22:57

Were your boots covered in horse-pooh and your clothes emitting the fragrant odour de cheval?
I recognise your name from tackroom Grin

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 19/05/2011 22:58

If you go nuclear over trivia what are you gonna do when you have a genuine grievance? Start WW3?

Repeat after me 'peace and love', 'peace and love' and continue until you are back in the rational world.

Or pour yourself a double and join them.

MitchiestInge · 19/05/2011 23:01

Yes, that's me, provocatively dressed in horse shit and completely asking for it - very topical, have avoided those threads but really, why? What makes men think it is ok to intimidate and harass people?

OP posts:
MitchiestInge · 19/05/2011 23:02

Sorry, when I say people I mean women. I do realise there is a difference.

OP posts:
worraliberty · 19/05/2011 23:05

It's not just drunk men who harass women. Have you ever been in a city/town centre when the night clubs are kicking out?

My goodness you should hear some of the sexist/sexual comments screamed at the blokes from some of the women Grin

MitchiestInge · 19/05/2011 23:06

those poor men, they must be terrified

OP posts:
LordOfTheFlies · 19/05/2011 23:07

Hmm you'll need to elaborate.
I assume or presume you've been sexually harassed??

LordOfTheFlies · 19/05/2011 23:08

Ooooh, that looks like a don't believe-y face. Was meant to be a serious question-y face.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 19/05/2011 23:11

Either give as good as you get, or rise above it in dignified silence.

Lots of men don't think it's ok to intimidate and harass women, but some do regardless of whether they've had a drink.

No harm has come to you, and it's their problem as you won't be the one with the hangover in a few hours time.

MitchiestInge · 19/05/2011 23:11

I don't know, they were blocking my way and getting in my face 'alright luv, don't be so unfriendly' when I tried to walk through and ignore them

really, nothing

just not in the mood

OP posts:
MitchiestInge · 19/05/2011 23:15

Ok, next time I'll 'compliment' them and then try to physically intimidate them - is that giving as good as I got? I'm sure it will work a treat!

Fucking dignified silence?

OP posts:
MadameCheese · 19/05/2011 23:23

What about trying undignified silence? Maybe a chummy "up-yours" sign?

manicbmc · 19/05/2011 23:24

Get almost to yours doing the dignified silence then say, loud enough for them to hear - what a bunch of slappers Grin

LordOfTheFlies · 19/05/2011 23:27

You need to be careful about going straight into your house if they are harassing you, because they'll know where you live.
I've been follwed in the car and gone round the block a few turns because there's only 42 houses in my road and only no other cars like mine.
BTW having read your tackroom posts I wouldn't have thought you'd take any crap from anyone!!

worraliberty · 19/05/2011 23:45

those poor men, they must be terrified

I wouldn't say terrified but some do certainly look very uncomfortable and out of their depth. Harassment of any kind is not nice as you found out tonight.

MitchiestInge · 19/05/2011 23:53

it really doesn't begin to compare does it?

OP posts:
Straight2Extremes · 19/05/2011 23:53

Something that is really effective is to ask them why they think it's okay to bother you in a normal tone, often confuses them and makes them think.

ChippingIn · 19/05/2011 23:55

MI - how high can you lift your knee??

worraliberty · 19/05/2011 23:58

It's not a competition though is it?

Harassment of anyone by anyone isn't nice.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/05/2011 02:21

I used to work at a homeless shelter and leave at 11pm. A group of drunk idiots in business suits were talking/leering at us women as we left work. We ignored them and they were stunned when we all cheerily said "hello" to the local crack dealers (clients of ours). Really took the wind out of their sails.

That sort of thing makes my blood boil in a "how DARE they" way. It's rube and obnoxious and sexist and YANBU, basically. I don't mean it's OK to shoot someone but I have often have fantasies in similar situations of being some sort of superhero and just kicking the shit out of them. Hate lairy drunk men. Dignified silence my arse.
