her DC loves Shepard's pie.

So I stayed up late last night and made the pie, slow cooked the mince, boiled carrot, broccoli, onion, fresh herbs, into beef stock, and blended, as her DC doesn't "like" vegetables.

So friend came and asked how I made her, she then proceed to say DC wont like it, as DC likes cheap mince, boiled tattie and gravy granules and that's it!. Hmm

Apparently my Shepard's pie, is the best ever and DC asked for seconds, the look on her face was Angry while mine was Grin

She came to visit this afternoon, Im minding my other friends children for the day, as unfortunately its my friends mums funeral. I wanted to help out, as I know its going to be tough for her, so was making her meals etc... in case she had a bad day, which I know there will be a few.

So, I made a large batch of mince and made shepherds and mince pie for her, and with the left overs I made a small one for friends DC. (as she told me her DC like it).

I make shepards pie and cottage pie - i do know the difference. Lamb - shepards.

Cottage - beef

but i dont know which is meant to have carrots in so i put it in both - and i alwasy use beef in both as dont like lamb - do nerrrrrr!

bupcakesandcunting · 17/05/2011 15:22

"no she asked, and I said mince, from the farmers market, apparent its nice mince"

No such thing as naice mince. It's all made of animal innrds/eyeballs/bollocks/nipples.

BarbaraBar · 17/05/2011 15:24

But if you trick a child into eating vegetables then they aren't really eating them are they?

So it doesn't count.

AuntieMonica · 17/05/2011 15:26

unless you specifically buy 'breast' mince, bupcakes

ie 'free range turkey breast mince' like wot i have got in my freezer but am too tight to cook since only DH and DS eat it and they eat kebabs so don't know why i bother

bupcakesandcunting · 17/05/2011 15:28

Plus, if you'd been as wonderful as meeee, you would have a topping from mashed carrot, butternut squash and swede, thus boosting the vegetable intake of your friend's poor little Dickensian-rickets child.

Potatoes have hardly any nutritional oomph unless they're served skins on.

Thankyou.

GoFullForce · 17/05/2011 15:33

I topped it with sweet tattie, swede and carrot. (DC didn't notice as it gets slaughtered in ketchup Hmm.

I'd be smug too.

ShoutyHamster · 17/05/2011 15:33

Oh yes, Lab Pie - didn't think of that

The Cottaging Shepherds it is then! Sounds like a pub... a bad pub

bupcakesandcunting · 17/05/2011 15:35

Yes but were they sweet potatoes cultivated by a blind women co-operative in Kenya? And brought over here by carrier donkey? And did you pay Gift Aid on them? Because if not you have no reason to be smug, young lady.

ShoutyHamster · 17/05/2011 15:37

RicketsChild, O RicketsChild
Come sit with me
Let me ease your twisted limbs
It's butternut squash for tea.

Rickets Child, O RicketsChild,
Weep and limp no more
For this mince is from the farmer's mart
And not the Iceland Store.

Shepherd's pie is meant to be made with leftover cooked lamb from a roast that you have minced yourself. Therefore, not wasting the lamb OP Wink

Grinat Laboratory Pie

Where do you put the blended veg, mixed with the mince? I will try, although I am a bit put off mince by knowing it's bollocks.

My DS will always try new things with other people and not me, it drives me mad but I'm used to it.

Gingefringe · 17/05/2011 16:30

You are annoying.
