She's had it since she was a baby. She is now four. A lot of love has gone into that bunny. She wouldn't sleep without it. It was in the car this morning & now can't find it ANYWHERE!
WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!!!

Oh poor you! I have a DM who still gets sad about her teddy Rupert that she lost on Bridlington beach in 1947 and a DP who still hasn't quite forgiven his DM for getting rid of his beloved Panda when he was about 8.

First things first, check everywhere. I'm sure you already have but check again. And in places that you wouldn't expect to find it. You never know.

And then as a back up plan can you remember where the pink bunny came from? Who bought it and from where? Do they still sell or make them? Could you get one on Ebay maybe or from another MNer?

Jonnyfan · 09/05/2011 23:08

Oh nooooo! :( We still have Pinkdoll, a small plush er..pink doll which DD had from newborn. I heart Pinkdoll !

fruitshootsandheaves · 09/05/2011 23:14

I still have DD1's Baby Beans, she went to put her in the car boot stuff several years ago but I kept her for embarassing wedding moment yet to come for nostalgia

fruitshootsandheaves · 09/05/2011 23:15

maybe it fell out on a school run and someone else picked it up?

Itsanewimprovedme · 09/05/2011 23:16

I always say if we lost dds favourite teddy we'd have to give her away....totally understand your distress. Retrace every single step you took. Think. Then think some more. Do not give up so easily..

We recently found dss little dog a week after I lost him in retail car park..poor thing had aged ten years!

FriedSpamButty · 09/05/2011 23:18

I have things in my loft that DS has long since forgotten. He will thank me!

foreverondiet · 09/05/2011 23:18

I lost my special toy when 12 and am still traumatised.

So bought DS1 a pack up bunny, and then back up 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 etc whenever I went past shop (not as mad as it sounds as he sucked their ears so they had to be washed daily and he used one in day time sleeps and 1 or 2 in the night. Soon we had 30. DS1 has them in a bag and goes to bed sucking one and cuddling the bag!

I know I am mad Biscuit

mylovelymonster · 09/05/2011 23:31

You are all lovely sentimental old twits. There is a God. Bunny has just this moment been found after me & DH tearing living room apart. How do they manage to hide things so perfectly then completely forget anything about it?

Really shocked me how upset I was/am at thought of losing it. A replacement just wouldn't be the same, would it! (For her yes, for me not even close).

Bless you for your kind & helpful words.
Foreverondiet - you've experienced a major trauma, so your behaviour is quite bonkers understandable.
Enjoying a cup of tea and a cuddle now Grin Night all. This one's in with me tonight Smile

Glad bunny is found.

My DN (2) had a lovely pink bunny, took it everywhere, but then dropped it from pushchair on a wet day and bunny was run over by several cars. SIL retrieved and washed it but it is now Roadkill Bunny.

DN didn't really mind luckily!

cheeseandmayo · 09/05/2011 23:37

Fantastic that you found Bunny ! Smile

DH told me, he had a special teddy bear, and when he was 3 his Mum took teddy and threw him on the fire, and told him big boys don't have teddies. Shock

mylovelymonster · 09/05/2011 23:38

Sorry Dozer, inappropriate lol at that one Grin

Oh I am so relieved! A lost yet much loved toy is so very sad. But a found much loved toy is just, well, lovely!

I shall say a little prayer tonight to the God of lost and found lovely cuddly things.

Sleep well x

samels001 · 09/05/2011 23:39

So pleased to hear the good news! Do get a replacement if you can (ebay) - we are just about to do a full body transplant for DS's cuddly. (There is nothing left - he has sucked it so much so I have been planting the seed of surgery in DS's head!!

It is funny tho - I bought a replacement and the smile was different (everything else the same) so the new toy became Big Bill, loved but not nearly as much as little Bill!

mylovelymonster · 09/05/2011 23:41

Cheeseandmayo - you have reminded me of salad cream sandwiches.................

Poor DH! How horrible at 3, FGS. Do you get on with the MIL?

Dozer · 09/05/2011 23:42

Before you add stuffing, samels, you should read "velveteen rabbit" or "this rabbit belongs to emily brown"!

mylovelymonster · 09/05/2011 23:43

I have finally found my MN niche. You're all nuts.

salad cream works too !

(secretly relieved) MIL dead by the time I came along Blush

ChishAndFips · 09/05/2011 23:45

Glad Bunny's been found :). My DH is still scarred from misplacing his cuddly duck somewhere in a holiday cottage and being made to dash to catch the ferry home from the Isle of Wight, thus having no time to search and losing Ducky forever :(. MIL is apologetic now but I still don't think she really appreciates how terrible it was for DH. It always makes me feel dreadfully sad for him when I think about it.

mylovelymonster · 09/05/2011 23:49

FriedSpamButty - Bless you. I can't believe we still have it. So much chaos going on today it could so easily have fallen out of the car or a bag in the rush. Earlier I thought we'd lost DD2's beloved boob-shaped teddy, but luckily found that squashed in the folded up pushchair. Am just not with it at all today. I'm going to have to make a new rule to keep special toys at home!

I once left my Lamby behind at the park.
The nice men at the cricket pavilion kept her safe for me until my Mum could make the 30 mile round trip to collect her!

We had "Soggy Mouse" for DS1. He started off as "Squeeky Mouse" but was sucked alot...
We ended up with 3 Soggy Mice, used in rotation.

Ishtar2410 · 10/05/2011 00:01

We lost 'hedghoggy' in Tesco when DD was 2. She still talks about him now - 4 years later. I even knitted her another (original was bought) and although it was a fair substitute, it never replaced her favourite.

There are many conversations about what he's doing now...

We lost her stuffed cat 'Molly' on the beach in Wales 2 years ago and it was only at bedtime that we found it missing....soooo, we went to look for it and just as I we had given up we found it much further inland from the beach.

We'd even had a 'goodbye Molly' moment on the beach. What are the chances of that? Toy was sodden and had obviously been in the sea.

Both times I was beside myself with the sadness of it all.

FriedSpamButty · 10/05/2011 00:09

Oh so many happy and sad stories here. I'm 43 but am getting very moist eyed like a 5 year old. But my 43 year old 'flat teddy' is safe in my room and I feel for everyone else who is missing their beloved teddy/soft toy, like my DP.

PoppetUK · 10/05/2011 00:10

We lost a cuddly toy 48 hours before an international move. Removal men couldn't take the screaming at nap time so resorted to holding him!! He was just very unhappy with me or DH. The replacement just wasn't worn enough. I was on my hands and knees trying to rough the bloody thing up, rubbing it in grass, carpet, soaking with massage oil we used on DS. I won't tell you what lengths I went to to try and get him to take the new version. 24 hours before the flight he finally popped his fingers in and cuddled the thing to sleep. The cheers as he started to suck his fingers with it was so loud that everyone wondered why DH and I were celebrating. I wasn't looking forward to the flight without it.

Still remember losing middle child's elephant. He still asks why his siblings have a special toy but he has finally found a new special one....... I hope it turns up but totally get your feelings xxx

midnightservant · 10/05/2011 00:15

I had quite a few consecutive panda glove puppets, which leaked sawdust as they got worn. But I still have Old Man Nelson Pandy, flat as a pancake, fur all scratty, except for behind his ears, which are still dark shiny and velvety. No other pandy smelt like him.

I am 58.

dreamingbohemian · 10/05/2011 00:16

O thank god there's a happy ending! Smile

I'm already mentally preparing myself for the day something happens to my boy's stuffed lion. It's the only cuddly toy he likes, he sleeps curled up with it every night.

When I was still pregnant, DH told me wistfully about one of his fave childhood toys, a stuffed frog, how sad he was when it just disappeared.
After DS came, DH's mother came to visit and pulled out of her bag... the old stuffed frog!
DH's face lit up, he yelled 'Froggie!!'
He gave it to DS, hoping it would be a multi-generation frog, but unfortunately DS isn't so interested, aw bless.
