She's had it since she was a baby. She is now four. A lot of love has gone into that bunny. She wouldn't sleep without it. It was in the car this morning & now can't find it ANYWHERE!
WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!!!

DD lost MY bear. He was a present from a friend on my 18th, and went to university and everywhere with me (I had a childhood bear, but he was in serious danger of disintegration by the time I left home, so he just sat on the side instead of sharing my bed). He got left behind in a hotel when I went on a course with work once and a hotel worker who lived locally to the course venue delivered him back to me. Blush Grin

Then DD came along and despite her many soft toys she became attached to MY Oscar, renamed Brown Bear. She took him to the cinema one day, and he was never seen again. I think he may have fallen out of the car when we decided to hop out of the car at traffic lights. She was only 3, but that evening said very sadly and articulately 'I think he is somewhere, walking, in the rain, trying to get home to us'. I howled.

She is 7 now and still misses him. I am 39 and so do I. :(

When my DD was 2.6 she found a tiny little teddy bear with the name 'Emma' embroidered on it very near the school.I knew a little girl must have lost it so persuaded DD to leave it on the wall "because the little girl will come back and will miss her teddy".Next day walked on other side of road, but day after forgot and eagle-eyed DD was looking out and spied the still abandoned bear and pounced with the agility of a tiger. So we kept it and DD loved it.So any toys which do go missing might end up being re-loved Wink

My 4 year old son has a leaflet!!!!!! It came with some thomas tank engine toy and shows lots of different toys you can get. He takes it to bed and looks at it all the time it is now more sellotape than paper!
My 2 year old daughter doesn't have one special toy, everyday its something different she takes to bed - once it was her new shoes, yesterday it was the cardboard bakery she got free with her morrisons meal!!

fast forward 15 yrs...
DD2 lost her purple bunny when she was little, I told her it had gone off to look for carrots, it never turned up....she is now at university and using it as a plot for a project!
nothing is wasted!

My DS had Annie; Annie was a pink elephant but he couldn't say elephant it came out as Anniefant, so we called her Annie. He would fiddle with the satin label and do a funny sucky thing with his bottom lip. When he started Kindy at 3 he was not allowed to take Annie so he would fiddle with the label of his vest instead (m&s, label at bottom of side seam). I had to buy the right vests. Once in the building society, when he was in the push chair, he put his hand up the skirt of a lady queueing alongside and fiddled with her satin slip!

I'm almost in tears( bloody pg hormones).
I was worried that ds1 would become attached to so I tried to keep teddies rotating for fear that one day, I'd be the responsible adult when said special bear went missing. True love finds a way however!

Recently my 7.5 yr old (who describes himself as a tweenager and has an mp3 player and a DS) decided that his toy rabbit (Called Rabbit!) would never ever leave the house, even for holidays because she went missing for a couple of hours and he thought she had been in his rucksack. He's beginning to worry what he will do when he leaves to go to uni! A family member recently (helpfully) packed R in his backpack and he went ballistic. He's quite balanced but I had to get him to sit down and take some deep breathes.

I slept with a map for a few weeks and one night when my dad lifted me to the toilet(i must have been about 3.5), it fell out of my hand into the toilet.

Dad bought me an atlas to make up for it. Surprisingly as I said above , my ds1 is quite balanced!!

The problem we have is that there are dozens of animals in this house which fall into the "trauma if lost" category.

My grandmother put my DM's bear (and lots of other stuff) on the bonfire after DM left to go to uni. Never mind therapy - much more serious results - DM won't throw anything away, ever [sigh].

I am glad Bunny was found. Microchipping and some sort of RFID solution is definitely needed and would be very lucrative.

I slept with a pillow- not just any old pillow I'll have you know! It was a special one my darling dad made when I was 2ish. I am now 36 and I have not slept properly for months as said pillow needs surgery but to give it surgery would take away the rustling material, would mean "my" corner was gone forever and I just can't bring myself to do it. Especially as it is the last thing of dad left. I could sew a new case on it I mean over the old one......Hmm

DS2 has his taggy it has been with him since he was teeny, now at 3,7yrs he still can't sleep without it. I am dreading anything happening to it!

dirtymartini

Bless you. Smile

Please don't be upset. I don't think it upset him as much as you would imagine, he just accepted it.

I was horrified when he told me about it, and he described the bear.....I then went and bought him one that resembled his Teddy. Grin

He still has Teddy, 10 years later, along with other "cuddlies" I have bought him over the years....cos I'm a soppy mare ! (They are in a bag in the loft, but he has them...along with my hooooge collection !)
