after being off almost the whole month of april then the bank holiday and the voting day for some schools, and knowing that they finish for 7 weeks soon, why are they going to be off the friday before and the tuesday after the bank holiday at end of may? ffs at this rate i'd be better off home tutoring!!

Its not that i dont want to spend time with my children but i have had to fight all year for them to notice my child cant read (7) and now they have eventually took notice shes been off school longer than she has been in there! its bloody ridiculous (insert seriously angry face with much feet stamping)

It just makes all those years training worthwhile Fontsnob Wink

Fontsnob · 10/05/2011 18:45

I only did it for the holidays...don't even like kids. Grin

BoattoBolivia · 10/05/2011 18:50

We had an inset day at my dd's school on a Wednesday in the middle of term in October this year. We loved it as we went to Legoland and it was so empty we could stay on the rides and go round and round!!! There were a lot of children from her school there!!

clam · 10/05/2011 18:54

I think Inset days should be used for teachers to do "team-building" outings at Thorpe Park and the like. On Wednesdays. In term time.

NorfolkNChance · 10/05/2011 18:57

I second that clam.

BoattoBolivia · 10/05/2011 18:57

Oooh, I like that idea ( I'm a teacher on maternity leave at the moment!)

BoattoBolivia · 10/05/2011 18:57

Would looove to see that thread when the parents found out Grin

clam · 10/05/2011 18:59

We could post photos on the school website.

Feenie · 10/05/2011 18:59

Ahhh, I get it now, clam

And yes, fab idea - I want to go team building at Alton Towers Grin

Hulababy · 10/05/2011 19:00

Can I come too Clam? I know I am only a TA these days but I was a teacher - got out after too many MN bashing threads ;)

NorfolkNChance · 10/05/2011 19:00

Better than the staged "oh look at us being sooooooo interested in Riverside Walks in Scunthorpe volume 3" ones we get at the moment

Feenie · 10/05/2011 19:00

AIBU to expect teachers not to piss about and eat candyfloss on training days?

Feenie · 10/05/2011 19:01

YABVVVVVU, yes Grin

BoattoBolivia · 10/05/2011 19:04

Don't be daft- it's science training! Do the parks all do 'teacher packs' to show you how educational it is to take 60 8 year old on a roller coaster? I'm sure the parents would understand. Then we can charge them all £200 to take the kids on a residential there and we would have teacher- bashing bingo!

clam · 10/05/2011 19:05

OK, I'm going to book a coach and do a risk-assessment. Is anyone allergic to nuts? Or travel-sick?

Hulababy · 10/05/2011 19:06

9y DD is going to Centre Parcs for 4 days next week with her teachers. Gosh, they really must be slacers - all those holidays, 3 weeks extra compared to state schools too AND now a nice jolly with the girls - how lovely. Should I be all guns blazing???

Grin Wink

NorfolkNChance · 10/05/2011 19:07

Me Miss Clam I need to be at front with the bucket.

Fontsnob · 10/05/2011 19:07

Can I sit on the back seat and show my bum to passing cars?

Hulababy · 10/05/2011 19:08

Can I eat my packed lunch on the coach on the way there please?

Feenie · 10/05/2011 19:08

Me too.

I am of the open-every-window-even-if-it's-freezing-on-the-coach brigade - much better than loads yakking up on a boiling hot bus.

BoattoBolivia · 10/05/2011 19:08

Are we there yet?

BoattoBolivia · 10/05/2011 19:09

Did anyone bring the magic newspaper for Norfolk?

Fontsnob · 10/05/2011 19:10

Miss! Hulababy just stole my fags sweets! I don't want to sit here any more.

clam · 10/05/2011 19:12

@BoattaBolivia: have you actually had the baby yet? Or should we bring hot water and towels in case you underestimate the effect of 'Stealth?'

Hulababy · 10/05/2011 19:12

Grasser!!!

Can we go to Starbucks? DD is going for hot chocolate at Starbucks on her trip. Can I go too? It's noooootttt faaaaiiiiiirrrrr!
