WeightWatchers woman in odd dress just annoys me
Jammie Dodgers monkey advert is seriously odd
The birds eye strange teddy in freezer is creepy
The hotel ad with the aggressive teddy in bed is NASTY
All Halifax adverts, especially those offering me a 'great rate' (2% FFS)
All cosmetics adverts are boswellox.
DM ads p*ss me off, because I want what they offer, but refuse to buy the DM
I know I should just stop watching ads, or TV in general, but DO THEY THINK I AM STUPID??.

ZillahWhoDrankTooMuchGin · 07/05/2011 23:21

Ah you see now you have mentioned King - which makes me think of Burger King....Aaaaaaaaaargh!

Honeydragon · 07/05/2011 23:21

eyeballs not being white enough

ta daah!

BitOfFun · 07/05/2011 23:21

I've just noticed one for the Co-op trumpeting its "sunlit barns" for the chickens who lay their eggs- illustrated by an empty barn, obviously, rather than one crammed with birds. Are we supposed to think that is fabulously ethical animal husbandry then? Hmm

NorksAreMessy · 07/05/2011 23:25

DO THEY THINK WE ARE STUPID.????

Who swallows this stuff? Somebody must, or the adbods wouldn't bother.

I can't think of any thing I have bought because of the advert ...with the ONE exception... sending my old phone to Mazuma because I could remember the silly jingle when I needed a name to send the phone to

If they want to express the eating KFC effect honestly

than the couple in that advert should take of their clothes a join filthy ugly orgy that's over in 5 minutes, wasn't very good, and then show them all dirty ashamed and bitterly disappointed in themselves for doing it in the first place.

BoF the Co-op one is really annoying me, surly with all the money they spend on ad campaigns could subsidise ethical choices?

BitOfFun · 07/05/2011 23:30

If they could see their way to finding a voiceover slightly less irritating than John Hannah, I'd be slightly happier, tbh.

BitOfFun · 07/05/2011 23:31

Gud with fud.

FFS.

NorksAreMessy · 07/05/2011 23:34

Love the orgy idea, HoneyDragon. That must be what it is like. I did walk into a KFC once as I was ravenous but the smell sent me straight out again.

Shall we start on sanpro adverts, or are they just too easy a target?

OP posts:
shakey1500 · 07/05/2011 23:36

"Gud with Fud"= actual snort :)

ZillahWhoDrankTooMuchGin · 07/05/2011 23:58

They should deffo do "Gud with the Dud" for their funeral parlours....

BitOfFun · 08/05/2011 00:01
Grin
Honeydragon · 08/05/2011 00:08

I thought you were talking about me when I saw that on my recent threads, couldn't work it out and had to come in to see Grin

No one took me up on intelligent life in the universe...

NorksAreMessy · 08/05/2011 14:51

Confuddled...you have truly confuddled me, what ARE you on about you loon?

OP posts:
confuddledDOTcom · 08/05/2011 16:18

Go Compare ads, that's the song from the space one - thought I might have a go at sticking it in people's heads for the day. I hate those adverts but the space one calls Gio Compario (the tenor) intelligent life which I'm never sure is funny or annoying.

NorksAreMessy · 08/05/2011 18:23

you seem to know a ridiculous amount about these adverts and may need a hobby :)
I have had the 'wood preservation society' song in my head all day gggggggaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

OP posts:
InAStateOfReflux · 08/05/2011 20:43

I have just seen the weird weight watchers dress and now know what you're on about! Yes v annoying.

confuddledDOTcom · 08/05/2011 20:45

No, it was only the intelligent life that stuck in my head, I copied the words for the awful song.

Unlike other posters I've only mentioned two adverts, although getting a hobby would be good at the moment, beats being stuck inside unable to walk far because of long term PGP/ fibro/ degenerative spine disease/ sciatica that's cut off my leg or having to rest because I've been contracting since I was 24 weeks and only 30 weeks now Smile

BatmanLovesRobin · 08/05/2011 20:56

Oooh, hormonesnomore - ace! Max Branning and Peter Serafinowicz!!

HubbaHubbaBubba · 08/05/2011 20:58

Yes OP, many ad-men (AND ad-women!) do indeed think you're stupid :o

Many, many shite ads, and I'm sorry to say, but I love these ads;

the insurance ones with the comedians (love the walnut-price-and-feng-shui-obsessed woman)

the coffee one with George Clooney and John Malkavicz

the one where the couple are sitting in the cold car, grin at each other then run, stripping, into the sea amidst snow and wind etc

You also can't beat Peter Kay's divebomb into the swimming pool for the ale ad. Genius.

Have to say though, no clue what those ads advertise! :o

NorksAreMessy · 08/05/2011 20:59

Oooh, confuddled, you poor girl :( that sounds just AWFUL.

No wonder you are an advert expert, please help me in my rant about the sheer idiocy of most ads these days...why do they think treating us as stupid will make us buy their stuff? Why?

OP posts:
NorksAreMessy · 08/05/2011 21:03

I like a funny ad as much as the next sofa-loafer, but it is the ones that try to scare you into buying something because you have a problem they have invented (un-lovely underarms); or bamboozle you with made-up pretend science grrrrrrrrrrr

OP posts:
InAStateOfReflux · 08/05/2011 21:22

Love the "free cake!"
