To tell the drunk man who keeps knocking on my door...

to stop knocking?!

Im in on my own, and I answered the door because I thought my housemate had forgot his keys, but this drunk man was looming, and slurring and spitting and in the end managed to ask for a blanket and so I told him I was very sorry but I didnt have one and to not knock again. But he is shouting at my house from the street...

Call the Police.

JamieAgain · 06/05/2011 22:20

I'd call the local police station if it goes on. Not 999

anonymosity · 06/05/2011 22:22

999
public nuisance, D&D and threatening you (sort of) - I expect its quite intimidating.

HecateQueenOfTheNight · 06/05/2011 22:22

Yes. Call the none - emergency number and ask them if they have anyone around who can come and move him on.

pinkstinks · 06/05/2011 22:26

He just did it again, and I havent opened the door, but told him if doesnt move along and stop then I will be calling the police
He is just laughing outside the front...

Call the police!

I bloody would, how dare he ...

Ripeberry · 06/05/2011 22:30

Hope you've called the Police and they are coming round this minute!

BrokenBananaTantrum · 06/05/2011 22:32

Def phone the police. Are you ok?

BabyYoureAFirework · 06/05/2011 22:34

I'm quite brave, but this would scare me a bit. I think you should call 999 on the non emergency number and explain - they'll know to prioritise it I should think. Hope you're ok.

pinkstinks · 06/05/2011 22:35

Hi, yeah hes shouting obsenities and wanting to come inside to find his blanket?! so im just calling the non emergency number,
im ok, just a bit freaked out, my housemate is on his way back, via the back door!

Honeydragon · 06/05/2011 22:41

Glad you will have someone with you

charmed185 · 06/05/2011 22:49

are you sure he has not got mental health issues or something though before you call police. Just a thought for the fact that he is chasing his blanket :(

nijinsky · 06/05/2011 22:50

Sorry, but who cares in this situation if he has mental health issues? Plenty of people have been attacked by mental health issues. Its not up to the OP to find this out, but to ensure her own safety!

pinkstinks · 06/05/2011 22:51

hi charmed, he may well have mental health issues, but Im not sure what I can do to help?! He is also very drunk, and clutching a bottle, which isnt helping matters. The police were lovely and apprently our neighbours have already phoned them as he is doing the same to them (two doors up) and the police are on their way.
He may just have had too much to drink, but Im sure the police will know better how to deal with him than I do, and hopefully in the morning he might realise how scary his behaviour was to a woman on their own.

Erm...which run down estate do you live on? Confused

worraliberty · 06/05/2011 22:52

How can anyone be 'sure' there are no mental health issues before they call the police?

Even if I was 100% sure I'd still bloody call them.

pinkstinks · 06/05/2011 22:53

erm...I live in the centre of plymouth and what bearing does a 'run down estate' have on this?

OP posts:
JarethTheGoblinKing · 06/05/2011 22:55

If someone is threatening you, is obviously drunk and won't fuck off then you need to call the police. If they do have mental health issues then hopefully they'll be dealt with sympathetically. Most likely it's just a pisshead who's lost and causing agro. You don't need to apply the SN filter to this kind of situation.

charmed185 · 06/05/2011 22:55

ok I was just trying to say that sometimes someone with mental health issues appear drunk, I did not read the thread properly "he is clutching a bottle". Apologies :)

expatinscotland · 06/05/2011 22:56

'Erm...which run down estate do you live on? '

You think people actually enjoy living in rundown estates?

charmed185 · 06/05/2011 22:56

Iprivate: what sort of question is that? OP could live in a tiny village with just ten houses costing ten million quid each. What a stupid question !!!!!

I find it quite strange that a drunk person would come out of nowhere and start knocking on the door in a nice neighbour. So I just assume you live in a rundown estate where things like this would be of the norm....am I wrong? No?

expat - I am sure the drunk man enjoys living in the rundown estate...

Bogeyface · 06/05/2011 22:58

WTF?! How bloody rude! Believe it or not, pissed up arseholes dont just confine themselves to run down estates for fear of upsetting the middle classes you know! Wherever the OP lives, it is clearly a cut above where you learned your manners!

IprivateI · 06/05/2011 22:59

bounce - as long as they don't give me a wedgy.
