to think that there should be a Nansnet as well as/instead of a Gransnet?

Gran is v middle class, to my ear/mind. While Nan isn't.
(I had both. Actually, I had a Granny and a Nanna. I was told by a bf that Nanna was posh. He used to pronounce it Nannaar)
(mind you he had a Naaaaan. From Caaaaaamberwell. She wasn't posh, oh no.)

I am granma...love it...
nana is kinda young sounding (well it is to my addled brain)
See when I told people I am a nana they go oh thats nice, but when I told people I am a granma they say ...oh never!! really! you dont look old enough
For ego and vanity I like to be called granma best

I reckon you'd get a whole different approach to, say, smacking on a NN thread to a GN thread
ime, your Nan would recommend a clip round the ear for the overexcited nipper, while Gran would suggest a nice sticky bun, and say you were 'overtired'

I had 2 grannies.
My sister was first to have DC within our family, and in her husband family it was Nana. So my mom became Nana for her first grankids.
My MIL is called Nanny, same her her mom was.
So we have a Nana and a Nanny. And no Granny. It is a bit weird for me.

Oh excuse me...I'm fearfully middle class but am still "Nanny" to my dgd. I am not, however, anybody's "Nana". My own grandmother was a "Nanny" too.
Personally, since I've merely crept in and straight out of "Gransnet" I'd need evidence that a "Nansnet" would be a deal merrier and stuffed with a decent sufficiency of other old gimmers who said fuck and stuff.
