I always ways vote when the opportunity is given.

But I am not a romantic about it. I have written many things which
have had more influence than my vote.

My hand does not tremble as I place a cross. But it is an opportunity to show what you think today about your local council etc.

It is clear which way the AV vote will go. I would have liked it to have been close. But it never took off with most of the public.
Nor does voting in council elections. Why not give it a gio for a change.
(I am not a candidate.)

The scotland and Wales votes are declared tonight. Engalnd council results tomoorow morning, Happy voting.

will do after.

which way will the av go??

gawdblimey · 05/05/2011 11:16

does everyone have to do a thread about when they will be voting

and then another one when they have voted?

PiousPrat · 05/05/2011 11:17

AV will go to a No, I think. The No campaign has had more lies money thrown about and the Yes campaign didn't do enough to make it known what AV actually is, or that it is the same method used by politicians (including the nay saying Tories) to elect their own leaders, so presumably is considered a fair method.

I have voted already, wandered up after watching DS2's school assembly then got a lift back from the local LD candidate (we have locals as well as referendum here)

LaWeaselIsOupaLaDouffe · 05/05/2011 11:31

we can't vote. we moved house and were missed off the register and there wasn't enough time to sort it out when we realised (yesterday!)

Annoying because I wanted to vote on AV.

The no campaign is huge here, endless fliers have heard nothing at all from the yes side. How rubbish is that? A whole area with potential no idea what av is!

Quenelle · 05/05/2011 11:37

I'm going this evening after work. I would never not vote.

CurrySpice · 05/05/2011 11:39

La Weasel you are probably still on the register at your old address

I have voted. Although I had to spoil my paper in the local council election as there was nobody I wanted to vote for FFS Hmm Angry

sue52 · 05/05/2011 11:40

I will but I still can't make up my mind. AV sounds a fairer system but I have strong reservations about doing anything to assist Nick Clegg or as he is called in my house that lying devious egotistical git.

ScousyFogarty · 05/05/2011 11:43

crevix av camerooney wins.

LaWeaselIsOupaLaDouffe · 05/05/2011 11:45

curry - yes I should think so, but we moved several hours away and dh is the driver and working so it's not really an option unfortunately.

Sue - clegg is indeed a bastard in this house. But I don't hate him as much as Cameron. In fact the possibility of living the rest of my life with the sole aim of pissing DC off as much as possible is pretty tempting.

LaWeaselIsOupaLaDouffe · 05/05/2011 11:46

conservatives might do better out of av (any big party might), but DC doesn't want it, so would still annoy him if we switched to av.

JemimaMop · 05/05/2011 11:48

Yes I voted after dropping the kids at school this morning.

olderandwider · 05/05/2011 11:57

Where I live (london) there has been more Yes campaigning. Eg earlier this week people were knocking on doors to try and drum up AV supporters. We have had one lot of yes and one lot of no publicity through the letterbox and an explanatory leaflet from the electoral organisation (can't remember name of it).

My feeling is the Yes lobby have had more traction on the BBC (Radio 4 is what I listen to). I am not reading a newspaper at present as I can't easily get to the shops (on crutches). From where I'm sitting literally Grin, I think the campaiging and publicity has balanced out, and no one has really won the argument as each system has good and bad points. Which is why, I'll be voting no!

sue52 · 05/05/2011 11:57

I think I might have a serious think about who to piss off more, DC or Clegg. I know I' m being childish but it's either that or toss a coin.

I am waiting until both girls are awake so we can have lunch then go for an afternoon of voting and shopping at Lidl

Scout19075 · 05/05/2011 13:03

I voted this morning. My polling station is at the park, so I took Toddler, told him about voting and then we went for a swing and a run around the playground/park. All of the old dears manning the station and in voting loved seeing Toddler (aged 18 months) following me around with his ball. Live in an area with a lot of young-ish people, many of whom are home and the entire 90 minutes we were are the station/playground (only steps apart) I was the youngest person in to vote by a good 30+ years -- very depressing!

throckenholt · 05/05/2011 13:07

yep - same here - no literature about yes at all, but masses of negative propoganda from the no lot.

Will vote this evening.

jobrien1980 · 05/05/2011 13:09

Voting this evening (yes to AV...the Irish system I grew up has something similar, although combined with multi-seat constituencies, and I love to extra choice it gives you).

Pancakeflipper · 05/05/2011 13:09

I have never missed a voting opportunity. But I find myself dragging myself down to 'X' later today.
All our candidates are new. Clueless to who they are. No leaflets. No one has been round. The Lib Dems did phone me at the weekend to muster up support but failed to answer my questions and smooth out my concerns.

I am thinking of voting for a unlikely winner so they might get back the monies they have to pay out to stand.

Clytaemnestra · 05/05/2011 13:12

I've voted :)

onepieceofcremeegg · 05/05/2011 13:14

Voted at 8.30 this morning, took dd1 with me. She was quite interested. we had a rather confusing discussion about the former PM (Gordon Brown) who has the same surname as one of the staff at her school!

xstitch · 05/05/2011 13:15

I am going to vote after I have collected dd from school. I want her to see me voting so that she regards it as a normal adult thing to and will hopefully use her vote when she is old enough. It will also give me an opportunity to explaining campaigning to her so that there is a chance she will listen to all the parties and make up her own mind rather than just voting for who her dad tells her to vote for. If that turns out to be the same party by the right method I wouldn't mind though.
