I always ways vote when the opportunity is given.

But I am not a romantic about it. I have written many things which
have had more influence than my vote.

My hand does not tremble as I place a cross. But it is an opportunity to show what you think today about your local council etc.

It is clear which way the AV vote will go. I would have liked it to have been close. But it never took off with most of the public.
Nor does voting in council elections. Why not give it a gio for a change.
(I am not a candidate.)

The scotland and Wales votes are declared tonight. Engalnd council results tomoorow morning, Happy voting.

I've voted - and do get a proud tingle when I do. Just thinking about the number of people in the world who don't get the privilege of voting, and what people (especially women) went through to get the vote, mean I would never not vote. Loads of people I know have done a postal vote, but I like the ritual of going to the polling station. I took DD (2). It's never too young to start learning about democracy.

Nothing either Yes or No here. It's all about local issues - mainly where the candidates actually live and how many potholes they have fixed.

LDNmummy · 05/05/2011 13:18

I think away from the 'lefty south' there is probably truth in the the NO campaign being more extensive.

My family in the Midland's have no info on what AV is and what the YES camp have to say. Sad times..

NettoSuperstar · 05/05/2011 13:20

I had a postal vote.

MarionCole · 05/05/2011 13:20

I've voted. I'm a candidate but to be honest I'd be surprised if I make double figures let alone get elected!

Go out and vote people, it's your right.

speakercorner · 05/05/2011 14:07

I voted at 10am - but I work from home so it is easy for me. The polling officers said it was a bit busier than usual for council elections - which they put down to the AV vote.

i asked a friend how she was going to vote and she had a) no idea what AV was and b) no idea that there was an election coming up. She is 45 and reasonably educated. Bizarre.

Ragwort · 05/05/2011 14:10

Yes, voted after walking DS to school - walked an hour the wrong way to avoid having to get home and get on with some work - still procrastinating and wasting spending too much time on Mumsnet Grin.

caramelwaffle · 05/05/2011 14:12

Have voted (always do)

Had a lovrly lay in due to schools being closed. A winner either way Grin

breadandhoney · 05/05/2011 14:12

caramelwaffle · 05/05/2011 14:13

*lovely

caramelwaffle · 05/05/2011 14:14

i.d. is fine

breadandhoney · 05/05/2011 14:15

thank you caramel

JemAndTheHolograms · 05/05/2011 14:17

I have - postal vote. Voted Yes, anything to piss of Cunty Cameron.

ScousyFogarty · 05/05/2011 16:28

we had two candidates with the same surname. It nearly threw me.
you can ask for another crack if you spoil the paper.

voting card not necessary. Were you canvassed by a party hack at the vote? I was

A lady had a poodle called dizzie in her arms. She said "after Disraeli." it seemed odd.

I said "Do you do fish and chips?" to amuse the clerks. They did not. (That job is easy money)

The councils count is not till tomorrow morning.

PS my trainer said "FOCUS" as I voted. (Thats a Logan joke)

Have voted

PinkToeNails · 05/05/2011 17:51

I have and the polling station was completely empty.

Flisspaps · 05/05/2011 17:58

I have.

DameShirleyKnot · 05/05/2011 18:03

Have voted. Only 300 votes cast at 5.30, from a total of 1500 possible votes.

That's sad right?

I voted yes, because Peter Stringfellow was for the 'no' campaign.

It feels like a win/win to me though because a Yes result=David Hameron/eggface or No result=Nick CLeggtraitor=eggface.

caramelwaffle · 06/05/2011 01:06

eggface Grin
