to be getting increasingly annoyed at some AIBU threads? It

It just seems that (more and more frequently), a hell of a lot of AIBU threads no longer discuss what the OP actually asked.
So many people jump on one word that was used then rip the poster to shreds over it.
Or it turns into an argument about something that's off on a tangent.
And the amount of times that someone explains something very very clearly, but some people still misconstrue what's been said is baffling.

Why do people feel they have such ownership over what others post on this website its a PUBLIC forum? Confused

YANBU about poeople jumping on one word or phrase though and not reading things when people state thing very very clearly yet still people don't read it properly.

People ABU to be scared of posting here or being "flamed" who gives a shit?

IMO its just a forum full of people I don't know - some make me laugh, some annoy me, some are even "slightly unbalanced Hmm" at the end of the day I'm not going to lose any sleep as no one knows who I am Grin

But you are not taking my mid-thread crisis seriously Maryz.
I keep being reminded that name-changing is the only way to prevent being outed, my rock turned over and all my sensitive little bits exposed to sunlight.
(Rather like the idea of much sleep and having my own algae farm)

Goblinchild · 04/05/2011 20:22

And now half my post appears to have been consumed by a hungry ghost.

Goblinchild · 04/05/2011 20:23

And now my post is back.
Technology does that all the time to me.

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 04/05/2011 20:25

There should be a voting button underneath every AIBU post "YANBU" or "YABU" then you could see at a glance if the op is BU or not and not have to bother with the replies.

Anyone who wanted to reply could then natter about anything they wanted to underneath without upsetting anyone else Grin

Ooo, ooo I have a Willoughby and an India, I 've never been even slightly fashionable before.
Sorry, what were you saying?

Goblinchild · 04/05/2011 20:38

Nobody understands me.
There was a big white rectangle that had blocked the RHS of my post and then it vanished.
Hallucinating WereGoblin. Time to eat something. I've been awake 18 hours and counting.
Stressed and out of time, moi?

breatheslowly · 04/05/2011 20:42

So you can't go off on a tangent and you can't have a "thread about a thread". What are you meant to do if something in the thread raises questions for you that are tangential but you don't want to be accused of a "thread about a thread"? Do you have to wait a week and then start a new thread pretending that it isn't about the other thread?

proudfoot · 04/05/2011 20:43

Hahaha I nearly weed myself at the suggested twin names Algeria and Jones

YABU. Going off on a tangent and introducing new angles on things is far more interesting than sticking rigidly to the point.

vmcd28 · 04/05/2011 20:48

Just saw they're actually Moroccan and Monroe - she's named after Marilyn M and he's named after the "Moroccan room" in her apartment where her bloke proposed to her. Thank god he didn't propose in the utility room.

Mercury, screw you. :) That's the other thing that annoys me, which I forgot to mention in the op - if someone says you ARE being unreasonable, you've got to react badly to it.

It'll end badly.
Either a pratfall or a split. Or knowing my luck, both.

I once slipped on a bannana skin. DH laughed himself into an asthma attack and still refers to it - 12 years later.

Sorry was that too sensible?

The OP said something about poster shredding...is that something to do with Bill Posters will be Prosecuted? Because, actually, Bill is innocent!!
