A line full of mums and DD's in converse while sitting watching a class, I don't want to be the same, I bought Primark version (£5) and lasted 3 weeks, there's a surprise! Are Vans the new trend? (never been 'on trend') and are they any good? And what does this say the fact I have to ask??

I love them because I am size 9 and they fit. THe range is in ALL sizes, no mens'/womens' divide. I couldn't give a stuff if everyone else or nobody else is wearing them. They last and last, and I get loads of comments on my double lace high tops!
I like the complete flatness, too, as I prefer bare feet really. I do have trouble with my arches, but Converse don't seem to cause any problems.

Converse-they're comfy but I prefer my Docs

unless I'm wearing Crocs

I would love to wear them but I have a wide foot. They are just too uncomfy. Birkenstocks or Crocs for me especially as I am pregnant and thus even worse. Such a shame.

I do sort of get your thing about everyone having them. There is a definate tribe that wear them.

Oh and I read that the flatness of them (and regular flip flops) make them as bad for your legs as stilettos.

I don't find my converse particularly good for my feet because of the flatness, it can set off my plantar faciitis. So I use inserts in mine which seems to do the trick.

I hate breaking a new pair in too. I have one pair that are beginning to fall apart so may have to get another pair. Black or grey this time, I think.

I'm in my 30's. I basically live in my jeans and wear converse & vans. I don't care about trend - I certainly couldn't tell you what was in or out of fashion. Converse and Vans are comfortable, as well as addictive Grin, plus they last for years and come out of the washing machine looking (near enough) new.
I shop around and have them in a range of colours - couldn't care less if I stand out or blend in.
PS: Have recently bought DD her first pair.
