Just a thought do they belong to the ' Royal Family Fan Club'

Same could be said for those who go to festivals. Different strokes and all that. Some people are really excited and it's an historic event, why not? and why care?

Animation · 28/04/2011 08:39

It's like a coming to together of the people. It's like a good excuse to all show up and be together in harmony!

fedupalready · 28/04/2011 08:40

Yes but at festivals people have talent, can understand singers/groups having fans camping out, but a wedding slightly different, can't get excited over a wedding of people I do not know personally.

YA most definitely NBU.They are strange folk indeed.
I have come to the conclusion they are either:
also Cliff Richard fans
Daily Mail readers
Bored
Like sleeping on pavements

AbsDuCroissant · 28/04/2011 08:48

Weirdos. That's who

A friend of mine got told by a colleague, that "as a British passport holder, you should be getting excited about the wedding". Really? I don't remember THAT being anywhere on the passport.

Animation · 28/04/2011 08:49

Train spotter types.

NinkyNonker · 28/04/2011 08:51

Ditto sleeping outside for the new iPad or whatever in my book.

Or the Next sale. Hmm

2cats2many · 28/04/2011 08:51

Nutters. Definitely nutters.

CareyFakes · 28/04/2011 08:52

I couldn't think of being anywhere worse than at a hippy festival, to me the concept is utterly alien, but I know some like that sort of thing and it's no skin of my nose.

Some people are just excited and want to be part of something, I say fair play to them, not causing any harm.

nepenthe3 · 28/04/2011 08:54

But at least they have something useful to take home at the end of that NinkyNonker. The royal types with sleeping bags have to the strangest.

mrsravelstein · 28/04/2011 08:55

dh turned to me last night and said "have you got the tent ready for tomorrow night" and we both fell about laughing. they are nutters. benign nutters, but nutters none the less.

georgie22 · 28/04/2011 08:56

The same thoughts have crossed my mind this morning! I admit that I'm quite looking forward to watching the wedding tomorrow, but from the comfort of my house. Camping is not my thing so there's no way I'd be camping out in central London inhaling exhaust fumes. What do they do about the loo?

Animation · 28/04/2011 08:57

Actually there's a bit of me that would like to be there - particularly at the part where the crowds all surge forward at Buckingham Palace when the Royals come onto the balcony - and we wait for the kiss. That looks like fun.

FabbyChic · 28/04/2011 08:57

Donuts! That's the type of people who do that.

cantspel · 28/04/2011 08:58

I think they are kind of sweet. They are enjoying themselves and doing no harm to anyone.

nepenthe3 · 28/04/2011 08:59

Good point about the loo, georgie22. If they pop to find a loo they'd loose their spot. They must do it in their sleeping bags. Weirdos.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 28/04/2011 09:00

DD saw a report about this on the news. Her eyes lit up as she remembered our tent. I am a miserable cow and told her that we wouldn't be doing it. She isn't even getting a day off school.
The thing that both of us wondered, was where are the toilet arrangements situated. When we do go camping, if any of us are needing to pee in the night, we can just go round the side or back of the tent. Those outside WA don't have that luxury.

Morloth · 28/04/2011 09:05

Weird but harmless, people doing much stranger things.

Whatever floats your boat.

QuelleLeJeff · 28/04/2011 09:09

I can understand it - they want to be right at the front of the crowd!

I did laugh this morning when they were interviewing a couple of those sleeping out and they asked what they thought the dress was going to be like and one of the women said "BORING!" haha! I bet she is kicking herself now, thinking "Oh God, why did I say that? I must look like a loon"

meditrina · 28/04/2011 09:12

The Telegraph put it rather nicely when they described them as "Royalists and eccentrics".

It's not unhygienic though - they're in small groups take it in turns to go and wee - one set interviewed had a nearby hotel room for showers etc as well, and I suspect all the veterans of this type of pavement camping will have done the same.

exoticfruits · 28/04/2011 09:24

I think that it is lovely that we are a notion of eccentrics. It gets a prime spot, if you want it and I expect that it is a sort of party atmosphere.
I don't like crowds, the cold or being uncomfortable so I can't imagine doing it for sales, tickets or anything. Nice however that some people do.

silverangel · 28/04/2011 09:26

I like that meditrina - defnitely eccentric!

Personally, I just dont get it but each to their own and all that:)

ll31 · 28/04/2011 09:28

I think its lovely to see tho would never do it!

goldenticket · 28/04/2011 09:33

Ah lovely, a sneery thread to start the day Hmm.

It's a completely harmless thing to do, leave them alone. Yabu
