Someone has a slow cooker on stewing lamb Confused

The stick of cooking lamb has permeated the entire floor. Nobody can go into the kitchen without releasing more stink into the offices and we are all going WTF at each other. It is completely vile. I'm sure if you eat meat it's a nice smell, but I do not, nor do a disproportionately high number of my colleagues (right-on public sector workers on SE) and I'm fucking pissed off, actually. At least kipper stink dispersed in 30 mins, I've been here MNing doing paperwork for two hours and it has been on the whole time. The window is open and I'm cold but I still feel sick.

You might think I'm being princessy but when i was pg the smell of cooking meat was instant vom and i really can't bear it.

I have sent an email round asking the culprit not to do it again. AIBU?

Actually, to avoid AIBU by stealth I should confess that I have pretended I don't know whose it is but I do, and she gets on my tits anyway.

Oh! Oh and it's her fucking dinner! For when she goes home!

Did the lamb lady bring the lamb in raw and simply plugged in the slow cooker at work, or was she preparing the ingredients on site?

I don't know, I missed that bit!

How strange? This is just so bizarre, i thought my colleagues are weird at times, but they are positively normal, compared to this!

Maybe bring in a fondue machine Grin - I love fondue (I am swiss) but it can stink a place out. Also, they make electic fondue pots, which would be just as bizarre as a slow cooker. Am trying to think of other wire things, but cannot....

spamm · 28/04/2011 01:50

*weird things

GotArt · 28/04/2011 01:52

I second Durian... it is disgusting. Tastes good though, but only if you manage to eat it before vomiting.

spamm · 28/04/2011 02:00

Durian smells of fishy custard, if that were possible. And stinks everything out! Tastes strange to me, not really nice, just strange!

Can you cook some lovely vegetarian cabbage, blue cheese and sock soup today?

HairyBeaver · 28/04/2011 08:12

I think OP you should take all your shower stuff and as soon as you get into work have a shower then go to your desk with your dressing gown, slippers and towel on your head and do some work and see what she says!

Maybe boil up some cabbage and sprouts and leave simmering for hours nice pong.

Back in 80s I worked in similar set up (ie old house in grounds of public building). At the time smoking at work was considered normal. I had to share an office that was just large enough for 2 desks (one at right angle to the other so we sat almost touching) my colleague (lovely man) was a chain smoker. If I spent the day in the office I passive smoked about 20 - thankfully my job was mainly out and about! I would imagine slow roasting lamb would not have raised an eyebrow btw I am vegetarian so am with you on smell of roast lamb. My worst smell is those cinnamon candles etc at Christmas, when expecting DD2 I had terrible morning sickness and even now (8 years later) walking into a room with that smell makes me heave, no way could I work with that smell

plusRoyalisteQuUneEmigree · 28/04/2011 10:06

Well, if vegetable matter won't do it (though dead, rotting flower stems make a good effort, if you want to try!), you will have to stuff her instead. Good tree of broccoli up her ... ahem... down her gullet. And chips in her nose, in the fashion of K-k-k-ken of A Fish Called Wanda. That neatly revenges you for both the heaving and the smell.
