Can i sat twatty?! lol

seriously, im sorry i offend anyone, well no im not really cos this is my opinion but it annoys me when parents say "oh i didnt buy my kids any easter eggs, theyre a waste of money" or the new thing "its too unhealthy" i mean its a chocolate egg for god sake, surely one will not matter, unless theyre intolerant to chocolate or whatever but come on!!

I was having a look on netmums and there is a thread on there of all these women saying they wont buy their kids eggs cos theyre too expensive (yet they buy them a mass amount of clothes or expensive holidays each year) and there the healthy eating briagde saying they wont buy them because they will may the kids obese ect ect

i spent ten pound on some eggs for my kids, just ten pound, not a fortune, asda have them for a pound each for goodness sake!

when i was a kid we had lots of easter eggs each year, and no im not obese!! lol

i just think some people are a little too anal about some things! maybe i am being unreasonal but i want my kids to enjoy easter ect and an egg wont hurt surely!

and yes i wanted to rant cos i couldnt rant on netmums as you get told off for having an opinion lol

I agree with OPs sentiments. Re health grounds, it assumes that an adult has no say over the amount of chocolate a child eats. I know people who do it and expect presents instead. An easter egg can be as cheap as you want it to be.

hairfullofsnakes · 24/04/2011 19:36

My son is three, he has had no eggs as he is still young and doesn't know about them yet. When he is older and is aware of Easter eggs I will allow him some as a treat. For now, I have never really exposed him to chocolate as there has been no need - I think this is a sensible approach - why give him something he knows nothing about yet!

madmomma · 24/04/2011 19:38

haha; loving the banter on this thread [buwink]
v. twatty to not get your kids an egg at easter
lol

sevendwarves · 24/04/2011 19:47

YABU.

Perhaps the parents aren't Christian therefore Easter doesn't actually mean anything anyway.

Whitewithnosugarplease · 24/04/2011 19:52

I totally agree with you OP.

We didn't buy our DD an egg this year (she does have them from relatives), we bought her a real live chocolate coloured bantam (hatched from an egg) instead.

She's hopping around in the hen house with her new friends as we speak.

blueeyedmonster · 24/04/2011 20:32

OP why do you care so much anyway?

They are not stopping your dc having an egg so why get het up about it, it's not affecting you Confused

goodbyemrschips · 24/04/2011 20:33

I bought my son 10 pound ones and he had a further 15.

nom nom nom nom

We are having a good day.

DamnItJanet · 24/04/2011 20:45

Sorry I think I took a wrong turn on the way to MN and ended up in Netmums.

lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DuelingFanjo · 24/04/2011 20:46

I didn't (or rarely - sometimes from grandparents) get them because

a. we aren't religious
b. We were poor.

Tee2072 · 24/04/2011 20:50

I did not buy my son an Easter Egg because I am Jewish.

Not everyone is Christian.

Is that okay with you?

I rarely buy DD an Easter egg. But not because of the expense. She ets klots from grandparents and aunties and uncles - she has 7 or 8 eggs this year plus a couple of chocolate bunnies. There is just no need for more chocolate. But we do buy her a gift, often totally unrelated. This year she got a Nerf water gun, although I admit she ended up with it two weeks early as the weater turned so nice. And then we were on holiday til last nigt and I forgot!

goodbyemrschips · 24/04/2011 20:55

Gosh people are so touchy......if you don't care leave the thread be.

Are we not allowed to have a bit of fun on here ?

Why does it have to be so serious all the time?

Blondilocks · 24/04/2011 21:05

I don't get one for my DD as she gets loads normally & currently still has loads of chocolate left over from Christmas! If she didn't get many others than I would get her an egg.

IslandMooCow · 24/04/2011 21:07

I was allowed ridiculous amounts of sweets and chocolate when I was a child, including loads of chocolate eggs. Carried on eating rubbish until I learnt better, but despite having a healthy BMI was diagnosed a type 2 diabetic. This may mean the DC's are also more prone to diabetes, so we are trying to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

No chocolate in this house normally - I think the children have been too small up to now - and the GP's respect that, but as it was Easter we had an egg hunt, and I made up a hollow cardboard egg with some little gifts and a small chocolate rabbit for DD (4yrs). She ate a bit and then gave it to DH and went to get a pear instead. She also didn't like chocolate ice cream when she tried that for the first time last month.

So I think YABU. Everyone is trying to do the best they can for their children, and if your way includes chocolate eggs, that's fine, but respect my choices also.

herladyship · 24/04/2011 21:17

YABU if you judge someone to be 'twatty' based on their chocolate egg buying habits

Also the overuse of !!!!!! In your OP made my eyes water and despite the 'lol' I did not in fact even crack a smil

herladyship · 24/04/2011 21:19

Or even a Smile
