Yes catchme casmama i do know it was once a live animal, but could you seriously imagine taking a bite out of that?
Ok maybe it is the manufacturers responsiblity but, the customer care helpline number is the supermarkets customer care helpline number, and said supermarket has been done a number of times for things like people finding deep fried chicken heads in the same sort of product.

It's just blood, the chicken wasn't "drained" properly, quality control issue with the producer. They'll need the number off the pack that shows which supplier it came from, nothing the supermarket could have done but the supplier will get a kick up the backside and prob a fine for substandard product. To be fair the supplier should have rejected those portions before they were processed in the coating but it's really low paid work on the lines so you get people who don't care or don't think!

TragicallyHip · 23/04/2011 21:50

Have a read of this

catchmeifyoucan · 23/04/2011 21:50

I haven't looked at the photo - what was the product? Not that it really matters since unless it's see through nobody could have known.

ChocolateEggyrolls · 23/04/2011 21:52

crazy - if you know that they have a reputation for putting chicken heads in their product what would possess you to purchase the same product - was there no alternative?

winnybella · 23/04/2011 21:52

Er...it's blood or bone marrow. You should have kept on cooking it for a bit longer and see it was still like that.

Not sure what the big deal is tbh.

megapixels · 23/04/2011 21:52

It's normal to have some blood ooze out during cooking sometimes. Have you not cooked chicken before? Confused (Though I have to say I've only seen this when cooking in the UK!)

GandTiceandaslice · 23/04/2011 21:52

Become vegetarian. Wink

winnybella · 23/04/2011 21:53

What's the urban legend re KFC, Chocolate?

mamaz0n · 23/04/2011 21:54

it was frozen chicken.

chicken has blood.

You hadn't cooked it fully so there was still blood. What precisely do you think the supermarket should have done?

you need to get a life

crazyh · 23/04/2011 21:54

Tragicallyhip, i have seen chicken like that before but this was definatly not out of the bone.

LadyPelvicFloorsOfSteel · 23/04/2011 21:55

Chickens do have blood when they're alive and sometimes it isn't all drained properly . It's not that nice but these things do occasionally happen even with quality controls in place, I'm sure you'll get a full and complete refund but it's not exactly worth this much drama.

ChocolateEggyrolls · 23/04/2011 21:56

(kentucky fried rat................so ridiculously pathetic and I know it isn't true but for some reason.....................- mind you pay no attention as I find swimming in a pool on my own disturbing just in case someone has let a shark in ala thunderball [buhmm])

catchmeifyoucan · 23/04/2011 21:56

Seems to me there's a bit of a complaining epidemic going on at the moment. Is it, do you think, because it's so hot outside?

crazyh · 23/04/2011 21:57

It was seeping out of the chicken and congeling sp? out of the skin before it was cooked, and yes I have cooked chicken before, it is basically the only meat I eat, but I have never seen this, sorry I just thought it was gross and i didnt think it was normal.

OP posts:
mamaz0n · 23/04/2011 21:57

i think you need to stop eating Chicken nuggets and mechanically processed chicken products.

and stop shopping in iceland

HollyBollyBooBoo · 23/04/2011 21:58

What's the urban legend about KFC?!

winnybella · 23/04/2011 21:59

Chocolate- my mum worked for a company making meat factory machines and apparently they have a certain acceptable quota of mice/rats that make it into pates etc-don't remember how many per month Grin It wasn't in the UK, but I wouldn't be surprised.

catchmeifyoucan · 23/04/2011 21:59

And I wholeheartedly agree with mamaz0n - It never ceases to amaze me that people really do buy pre-prepared processed food. Disgusting.

crazyh · 23/04/2011 21:59

I didnt mean to cause drama sorry, me and dp have since been laughing about it but still thought I would share, didnt realise I would be wrong to do so Blush

OP posts:
Vallhala · 23/04/2011 22:01

"Its pretty unpleasant but I think you are overreacting. You do realise that it was once a live animal don't you and that it did have blood running through its veins."

Bluntly, it's hardly surprising that a once-living creature has blood in it. If you don't like the fact that your meal has bled and died in order to be consumed by you perhaps this is time to consider not eating meat.

TragicallyHip · 23/04/2011 22:02

I have seen that happen to chicken drumsticks and wings many times and it's the bone marrow. Scrape it off, I understand it looks grim but you'll be fine!

Are we talking the mayo incident with KFC? Also did you know they use 28 day old chickens? Qrong!

ChocolateEggyrolls · 23/04/2011 22:02

load of bollocks urban legend.
