that I don't like that my nursery strip my child if she's not in nursery uniform?

A new policy has been introduced.

If children (3 and 4 year olds) at my nursery are not sent wearing their nursery polo shirts (regardless of the weather), they are stripped by the carers, and put into uniform polo shirts. Parents get to keep said shirts, but are charged the cost of the uniform on each occurrence.

What do people think about this? I really want to canvass opinion on this before I speak to the nursery head.

Thanks.

YANBU it seems that they have brought this pretty pricey policy in and for the next couple of years they have a captive audience - most people are going to bite the bullet and buy the stuff rather than move a child who is settled. Pretty crap behaviour really.

On the private = can do whatever they like and if OP has chosen that then she has to suck it up. It depends on the area. Some areas (like where I live) there is barely any preschool provision provided by the state, very few schools have nurseries attached and there is one standalone one for however many thousands of children. In this area the vast majority of nursery/preschool provision is private, they are paid with the funding that children get from age 3. So around here it's not a snooty choice to send your child to somewhere posho and so suck it up - there really isn't the choice. If my DDs preschool did this I would be very surprised and very annoyed. However I am very happy with them - would I move DD who is starting school in September, or cancel the place for DD2 over it? Probably not.

It might be worth talking to the other parents and seeing what the consensus is about the uniform - maybe if a lot of parents are unhappy you could present a sort of group parent complaint or something?

IMO uniform shirts and jumpers (from 6 months???!!!) is silly.
