AIBU to expect my local aithority to address the letter with the result of a school application with 'Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s)', rather than Dear Mrd xxxxxx? Is it not discrimination, or non inclusive to only write to one parent?

Totally reasonable, or better, find out the actual names of the family and address it to them. Even if both parents live together but have different names, how much hassle is it to add names to a database, ie Dear Mr Jones and Ms Smith. If there are step parents with parental responsibility acknowledge them too, ie Dear Mr Jones and Ms Smith.

and copy both parents if they are not together too.

they always address to the primary carer on the forms - not both

it is true through school

I assume this is your first child in first school

I think you need to get out more.

Niecie - no one can have parental responsibility until a baby is born! And even then, you will know if the father does - if he is married to the mother, for example....

activate - define 'primary carer? If the school does not address letters to me or us, I shall not provide them my contact details.

My school application (well DS') read parents/ guardians. This will not name the child but your child has been allocated a place in x junior school. You then follow the link to accept the place.

DS consultant always adresses the letters Mr and MRS x-y. DS is name x-y and I'm Miss y. His dad is not around and hasn't ben for 4 years.

Have I said something? Er no, I just want her to cure him she can write the letter to kermit the frog for all I care.
