I run too but don't have the problems some have with calluses and blisters... your should change your socks or shoes because that is culprit.

I wee bit of personal hygiene goes a long a way and a pumice and nail file costs nothing.

Bad cracked heals is usually a sign of vitamin deficiency

Sorry but this thread has pushed me over the edge. FFS why should someone give a shit what you think of their feet? MN really has reached the depths of shallowness tonight (interesting oxymoron).

bonkers20 · 15/04/2011 22:48

GotArt There is a BIG difference between personal hygiene and having calluses and blisters. Granted, blisters can and should be avoided, but a callus us just very hard skin. I think if I removed my minor calluses I'd probably get blisters in the same area or simply have the callus build up again. It's there because I run a lot and it protects my feet. So, they're not pretty in sandals, but that's because they work hard. Hopefully my beautifully toned legs distract from my feet.

Once again, it was supposed to be lighthearted.
And I'm sorry if I offended.

Fwiw, so much of what I say gets misinterpreted that I think I'm taking a break from mn.
Nobody understands me, sob, sob.

I love my feet!

(Random comment but wanted to share)

midlandsmumof4 · 16/04/2011 01:24

Never realised how awful my feet were til I broke a metatarsal and needed a cast. Had to sit for 4 hours studying my hideous feet..eughh Blush.

midlandsmumof4 · 16/04/2011 01:27

BUT.........having said that. My toenails were pretty much OK til I had them professionally painted and decorated. After removing the polish etc...my nails were yeuk......

Chiropodists aren't the cleanest places. I only like disposable tools being used on my feet. FFS, it's like surgery some of the stuff they do to you. I don't trust their sterilising methods. Went to one place where they dunk your feet in a bidet to clean them - but it's not like it gets disinfected each time a client comes in. I got athletes foot a few weeks later. Never going back.

I would never get the fish pedi. That's definitely unhygienic. Though nice in theory. Perhaps someone can suggest some crystal clear waters where the fish munch on feet in their natural habitat.

I don't claim to have the most immaculate feet, but keeping them clean, the nails neatly trimmed and slapping some moisturiser on most nights keeps them respectable enough to be seen in public without causing mass boaking.

I used to work in retail - managing a shoe department and believe me, I saw all kinds of feet. Not many had perfect pedicures, most were 'normal' hard-working, not overly pretty, but decent feet... but some people rocked up with feet that did make me want to hurl. One of my saturday girls did once memorably flee to actually throw up at the sight of one woman's feet - removed from her crocs to try on some pretty flip flops to reveal black sludge between her toes, long curving yellow toenails, cracked and peeling skin and very hairy toes. She bought the flip flops and wore them out of the shop.

While part of me applauded her insouciance about the state of her feet the other part of me was squirming in horror that she had her feet out at all.
