to get so cross with people who park in parent and baby spaces when they haven't got kids with them?!

...I need to get over it, don't i?

I get sooo furious when someone pulls up into a parent and baby space when i have to keep driving round and round until i find a space big enough to get the car seat out. Angry
Then i find myself glaring at said driver, gearing up to have it out with them, ("these spaces are for parents with babies, don't you know??") before chickening out and calming back down.

What's wrong with me?! But, uh, it's so unfair. I don't care about being close to the shops, i just need to get my pushchair out.

And should i give old people a break for doing it? No! I figure that if they can't walk from a normal space to the shop doors, how do they get round the shopping centre?!? I'm being unreasonable aren't it? Blush

PS - I wouldn't feel cross if a disabled person did this, or someone with a genuine extenuating reason. But everyone i see doing it just seems to be lazy!! Lazy i tell you! Pah!!

Help! Tell me i'm not the only one who thinks this??

I loved the P&C spaces when I felt I needed them. Mostly it wasn't entirely about the wider opening, closer to the shop thing. It was that everything small-child-related felt so stressful I really appreciated anything that seemed gratuitously helpful. As soon as ds could get out of the car by himself and life generally seemed easier, I stopped using them. Last weekend I took a few flights with ds and we were invited to board first because he's still young enough for that, but we simply didn't need to so waited in the queue like everyone else. And that made me feel all grown up.
I am happy we can park a distance away and walk in but I still feel cross when I see people who don't need to park in P&C spaces because they really helped me.

It is annoying and I used to get furious when I had a tiny baby. But you can't fix everyone's ignorance, so not worth worrying about.

Whyriskit · 11/04/2011 21:07

I'm happy to park further away, but with 7 month old DS2 and crazily independent, but completely unaware of danger, DS1 (3), I do find them handy. I do get a bit annoyed when people with no small people park in them.

I have a confession to make Blush

Last summer I used the baby and child spaces in my local supermarket and my DD's are 12 and 9

DD1 had a broken leg though and was on crutches with a plaster and it was raining and she had shorts on and I didn't want the plaster to get wet (PFB a bit I think)

Anyway, I parked in the space, all bolshie in my attitude. Thinking "I fucking dare someone to challenge me"

And then took fright and went to customer services and left them my registration number just in case anyone complained

"They're just parking spaces and it's not difficult to get a child of any shape or size out of a car in a normal space"

try getting a carseat back into a car when someone has parked 10 inches away from the door.

usualsuspect · 11/04/2011 21:18

Theres no need for P & C spaces

My standard reply on all these threads

I was heavily pregnant and the size of a whole terrace when I was pulling into a P&C space when a absolute cunt boy racer sped into it in front of me. I said do you have kids in the car "It aint my fcking fault you had f*cking kids, should have had a abortion" Shock Shock Shock !!

I finally parked and then waddled to the shop where he was waiting to shout abuse at me. I had 2 DC's (2 and 1) was heavily preg so the security guard intervened and his mate said he was out of order and maybe his mum should have considered an abortion.

That is what you get for shopping at ASDA!!!!!!

I don't want to risk my child getting run over in the car park whilst walking to the trolley park

I can't understand why so few mums use some form of harness or lead for their tots. I've seen people get all outraged because they say it's treating them like a dog, but if it keeps them safe, why is that so bad? It stops them from running out in front of traffic and it stops them from wandering off and risking abduction.

Well I actually laughed at someone today. Driving into supermarket for a few bits and there was a space in P&C on my side of the road. Indicated to pull into it and then a couple coming the other way just cut me up into it. Both jumped out and I parked in the space opposite (their side) that was free. Hmm

The bloke gave me a really smug look and I just burst out laughing. Not forced I actually really found the whole thing funny and couldn't stop thinking what a wanker. Grin He Asked me what my problem was. My reply....'obviously not parking in a normal space' Wink
