What time do/did your kids break up from school?

My son's school seems to be breaking up earlier and earlier.

Normally school ends at 3pm and years ago they'd break up for a holiday at 2pm...fair enough.

It then got earlier and earlier and for the last 2yrs they've broken up for the end of term at 12.30pm Shock

So he went in at 8.55am today, had breaktime at 10.15 - 10.30, lunch was 11.30 - 12.15 and then broke up at 12.30.

It doesn't bother me because I'm only a 3 minute walk away but don't really blame the parents who live a lot further from the school and don't bother taking their kids in.

So AIBU to think the school should stop moaning at these parents for affecting the school's attendance figures?

We've got another week before they break up (south wales) and they will finish at 3.15pm like they do every day.

All this finishing early must cause some parents a real headache.

Our schools all broke up early and we collected the kids just after lunch.
I can tell you that the teachers whose children I mind picked up their own kids from me at the usual time of 5/5.30pm, so I presume they were getting the classrooms cleared up and sorted.
I'll also be taking their children for a few days during the holidays while they go into school to prepare for next term.

End of term is always 12.30 at my DDs school. Half term the normal 3.20.
It's advertised at least a year in advance (term dates/times issued in a pamphlet).

There is no afterschool care at end end of term or half term, so guess that must be a pain for those that need it, but at least they have plenty of warning to sort an alternative.

They break up next Wednesday and go back 3rd May.

My dd finished at 2.40 like always on a Friday. But normally she goes to the garderie, and today they went on strike! I got one day's notice for this.

2 pm - usual finish time is 3pm.

YANBU - your school have taken it too far IMO and should either finish at the standard time or quit moaning.

For working parents the early finish time at my DC's school is a PITA.

The local secondary school finished at the normal time.

My children's children always break up at 12.00noon. Don't know why, tradition I think. They usually have a service at the local church then break up.

easterbunny 26th and 27th are the INSET days which have been scheduled since the end of last school year - bit daft having the kids back in school for two days that week, but ho-hum. 28th is the INSET day which was rescheduled from the summer after the royal wedding was announced and the head realised that having the kids back in for ONE day was REALLY daft.

We got a text from the school earlier to say actually KS2 were finishing at 3.15 (normal time) today, but if you were committed to picking them up at 3.00 (normal end-of-term time) you could do that anyway, which was a bit of a cock-up.
