AIBU?

...to have booted a bloke's Audi?

Disclaimer: I loathe inattentive drivers. I particularly loathe inattentive drivers wearing sunglasses and Armani while ON THE PHONE at the wheel of their effete stylish Audi convertible.

So was I unreasonable to put a size 7 Alpinestar into side of said car at the lights and indicate my displeasure as best as one can while wearing a bike helmet?

To be fair, he did go as white as his suit and put the phone away immediately :)

People on the phone whilst driving are a major hazard, I agree.

However, I don't think it matters what type of car they drive, size yes. I see so many drivers chatting away on the phone a the wheel of white vans/humungous 4x4s, hatchbacks, you get the picture.

You are lucky he was a wuss and was scared rather than someone who either walloped you one for damaging your vehicle or called the police. Because them being on the phone would be hard to prove, your footprint? Not so much.

onepiece it was more of a frisky tap then a full on hoof. No damage done, except perhaps to the male ego.

Well obviously, the fact that you LOATHE inattentive drivers makes it ok to cause criminal damage to someone elses property Hmm

If his actions were placing you in danger and it was the only way you had to alert him to your presence, then you were not being unreasonable.

If you wanted to tell him off about using his phone, etc, but you were not at risk of coming to some harm due to his inattention, then a knock on his window and some very clear signalling would have done the trick.

lockers but he had the windows down :( I suppose I could have knocked on his face...

If he had the window down you could have spoken to him. I tell children all the time to use their words if they are cross about something, obviously it's a lesson some very immature adults need to learn too.

"booted" to me suggests more than a "frisky tap". So which was it?

I loathe and detest stickybeaks. Especially those on a bike. Mind your business and concentrate on your cycling.

Well obviously he hasn't covered himself in glory (being on the phone). What he wears and what he drives are arrelevant and none of your business tbf

But you just made yourself as bad as him

So yes, YABU

lollipop I was being poetic, it was a tap.

catchme I wasn't cycling!

Hecate he was to my left so couldn't use my hand (on the clutch) hence the foot. I did do some clear signalling with my right hand though.

How clever you are OP and what an excellent driver by the sounds of it. In an excellent position to comment on other people's driving Hmm

I wonder how much damage you caused and if you could be identified and arrested?

I drive an Audi, its bloody gorgeous. It doesn't effect my driving in any way though.

Sorry, I think yabu. He was a twat to be on the phone, but criminal damage isn't the way forward.

My husband (who cycles a lot) reckons Audis are fitted with a special type of glass that renders cyclists invisible to the driver.

Although it wasn't an Audi that ran him over, it was a big 4 wheel drive thing.

squeakytoy · 07/04/2011 21:34

You thought it was ok to damage his car?

Was he stationary at the traffic lights? Were you doing what irritating twats on bikes always do and scraping up the side of the car?

Report

redfairy · 07/04/2011 21:34

I hope it was my EXH's Audi Wink

Do people drive cars made of cheese or something? You can kick a car quite hard without doing any damage whatsover. It makes a nice satisfying sound though...
