To think these people might want to rethink their estate agent

here

If I was considering buying a house for over a million pounds, I would want more detail than a picture of the street!

YANBU

More detail of the cars than the house.

Also "We understand there is potential to extend the house to the rear on the ground floor and the basement area" doesn't make me feel that they have done their homework.

backwardpossom · 06/04/2011 22:07

Ha! Oh dear...

anonymosity · 06/04/2011 22:08

Its because its pricey. They only want serious buyers and don't want to cause a security risk by showing the interiors.

see i want to see more, so i would go into the estate agents just to see more

PaperView · 06/04/2011 22:11

Look at the floor plans. It says there is a studio in the garden (?) but they weren't able to access it for measurements...?? huh??

Figgyrolls · 06/04/2011 22:11

bet it belongs to someone famous! seems cheap for 5 beds in chelsea.

addictedtofrazzles · 06/04/2011 22:12

I am gobsmacked that a 5 bed house in sw3 only costs £1.25. What a bargain! Seriously!

TattyDevine · 06/04/2011 22:12

It might either be what anon said or that they have only just got the go-ahead for listing, have ripped that off google earth street view and are yet to get particulars drawn up, but are interested to get it out there and hear from hot buyers in the meantime. It might be that that kind of property or in that street don't come up often so its "hot property" so to speak...

Sidge · 06/04/2011 22:14

Short lease and unmodernised house - it's probably a right dump!

Monkeytoo · 06/04/2011 22:14

I think the short lease is the problem hence the price.

new2cm · 06/04/2011 22:15

YANBU

Other red flags is "short leasehold" - how short, 1 year, 5 years? and "unmodernised", well, that could mean a lot of things.

However, bran already pointed out, Chelsea Green.... It's more about the location and square footage.

However, I still think the "short" lease will put off purchasers.

CaptainNancy · 06/04/2011 22:15

No- I think it will be in such a horrific state they cannot show photographs of the interior (and hence the price)- wmmc said something on Wannabe's thread about a hideous poo-encrusted house she viewed... funnily enough there were no interior shots on any website.

amberleaf · 06/04/2011 22:16

Tiny kitchen!!! 8'x8'

squeakytoy · 06/04/2011 22:21

the address of the house is on the floor plan!.. and that does sound very cheap for that area too..

ChristinedePizan · 06/04/2011 22:25

That 5th bedroom isn't really a bedroom though is it? You could get a single bed in and a bedside table and that'd be it. I wonder if the studio is rented out or if there is a vengeful granny in there or something.

Short lease is not a problem if the possibility to buy an extension exists. They could get a lease that's under 40 yrs bumped up to over 100 yrs for a few hundred thousand - which if you're spending 1.25 million on the site, would be about expected + the cost to refurb.
Chelsea Green is nice. Right by Jane Asher cake shop.

BaggedandTagged · 07/04/2011 01:24

The main issue with the lease is that you wouldn't get a mortgage, so you'd have to pay cash. That wipes out a lot of the potential buyers, so for anyone who does have the cash, it's a bit of a bargain I'd say.

GotArt · 07/04/2011 01:39

Maybe its one of those infamous squats in a wealthy neighbourhood. Grin

SarahStrattonHasNiceBears · 07/04/2011 02:17

I can't see it :(

anonymosity · 07/04/2011 04:26

most folks buying in that area now, ARE paying cash and they're not from the UK they are overseas investors.

Yukana · 07/04/2011 09:46

Ah yes, but then again I see a lot of similar ones appear as we're looking for a new place. Looking at the outside is lovely, really, but it would be nice if they would take pictures of the inside.

Flisspaps · 07/04/2011 09:53

A million quid for a 17 foot garden? No thanks.

Flisspaps · 07/04/2011 09:53

Sarahstratton nor can anyone, sodding trees need cutting down Wink
