I'm not sure I am allowed to do this but I just ordered one of this guy's books- An Awesome Book of Thanks

and i think it might be one of the sweetest most lovely kids' book i have yet to lay my hands on.

Just such a sweet story- the guy had never written a book before and self published and now it is on sale everywhere apparently- not sure if it is in the UK yet but anyway I love it.

catinthehat2...come on lighten up- no sense of humour over there?
it is like a playground in here though isn't it?you have got to find that funny.

an awful lot of 5 star reviews so luckily for the author not everyone agress with some of tonight's mumsnet reviewers.

He gives a book away for every book sold. Can you love it anymore?

maybe check out QVC if you want to see hard selling done well?

senses of humour all in good shape on this thread by the looks of it.
possibly a bit over your head though

scottishmummy · 07/04/2011 00:02

op,you are in melt down because no one else gushes about the damn book.like you do. all the floridly described mean girls, flies, wings pulled, stretched metaphor and hyperbole

face it,the book is a doozey, and you took time on bigging the book up too

just think you'll never get those precious moments back.ever

missslc · 07/04/2011 00:05

catinthehat2....I have no bone for you. Let go of my ankles.

ahhh go on then if it amuses you for a while longer- you go for it. I'm going to play in the brilliant sunshine.

are you always so pretentious and faux-wordy.all very put on

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 07/04/2011 00:15

I read the book. Wow. It's truly bad. I don't like the illustrations, I really don't like the words and the sentiment behind them is patronising. On the plus side I didn't notice the bad syntax and punctuation.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 07/04/2011 00:25

Ah, actually I read the first book. I've just read the one you're talking about.
I like the illustrations more than the first one, the wording is ok but the sentiment has just caused me to vomit out several internal organs.

ImNotThere · 07/04/2011 09:36

Nice rhymes. Lovely illustrations. Very poor grammar. The sentiment? Boak.

ConstanceFelicity · 07/04/2011 09:41

ConstanceFelicity..... remember at primary school you just weren't friends with everyone- this forum is a bit like that.Remember those kids you catch ripping wings off flies. I never stood next to them in the canteen or anywhere else.Just a an analogy- not accusing you all of wing ripping or anything.

What?

Am I the wing ripper?

Maybe I like the book because I am a dumbo who doesn't get analogies Wink

missslc · 07/04/2011 16:03

No No Constance-you were just positive in your input. How could you be a wing ripper? Just comparing that act to the act of being critical in a wing ripping fashion towards others' creativity....it is fine to not like something someone else likes but of course we all can but notice the attitude with which people respond in a critical fashion. It reveals much.

But I understand this forum often enables people to come and have little verbal fights that somehow help them get something out of their system(s) and I am happy to have been able to help in that way, even if the book was not to their taste!

I love the book and will continue to enjoy it.

The book's rubbish, but Dallas Clayton looks like a wholesome young man. I'll be your fan, Dallas Grin

ConstanceFelicity · 07/04/2011 16:37

Aaaaah right. Well, I for one thank you for bringing it to my attention (though I advise you so stay out of AIBU in future!) :o

scottishmummy · 07/04/2011 16:47

missslc, maybe carry a pomander and hanky for any perceived slights on aibu were you seem to feel might aggrieved. a lot.

missslc · 07/04/2011 20:59

scottish mummy. I don't feel aggrieved at all.no perceived sleights either. It has been a stimulating and entertaining little exchange and I could not have guessed that a recommendation would garner so many messages and so much energy from the pond. That surely is the fun of AIBU- a certain kind of fish in here. It is no fun going to feed the fish and none come gobbling up to the surface is it? If some bite too hard on your finger, you can always just flick em off or land a pomander on them, if your disposition is such.

All good.All good.

me?not at all.just green tea

MerryMarigold · 07/04/2011 21:19

I'm an AWESOME MUM.

Every night I give ds1 a 'dream' before he goes to sleep...(a made-up story)...

Better to make up your own dreams than buy a book and read about them (I think).

GORGEOUSX · 07/04/2011 21:22

OP you are clearly touting yourself. I have reported you. Grin

missslc · 07/04/2011 21:34

I feel a bit thrilled at the idea i have been reported- for what? Are the analogy police about?
