If Henry's mummy is out there....

Can I just say you may well be the queen of boasting by stealth!

Do you only buy your son expensive toys or do you seriously expect everyone to believe that Henry's favourite toys all cost £100 plus or thereabouts?

I mean my ds's current favourites are my hairbrush, a wooden spoon and the cat. Sometimes he plays with them all at once.

His most expensive toy, a jumperoo, has been ignored since he began to crawl.

Grin How big must her house be to fit that lot in?

BertieBotts · 04/04/2011 09:54

Haha! How many ride ons does one toddler need? It must take them hours to pack up when they "move all the time with the army".

cherrychoo · 04/04/2011 09:54

HA! ds loves a cardbourd box at the mo...apparently its a shop Grin

MummytoHenry · 04/04/2011 10:07

Well, excuse me for wanting to give my son the very best that toys have to offer! All because you expect your children to play like paupers does not mean we all have to stoop to the same level - I wholeheartedly believe in quality AND quantity.

The size of my house is none of your business. However, in case you were wondering, it DOES have more than enough space to fit in as many toys as we please. After all, not all of us are unlucky enough to live in the commoner's quarters that you people call terraces - we actually work hard to provide our son with the very best, and I do not see why we should be denigrated for that.

And just to make you feel even worse about your criticisms of my family's lifestyle, in favour of charity, we actively adopt the policy of one toy out, three toys in. I doubt any of you can claim to give so generously!

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 04/04/2011 10:14

Grin And may we thank you for your charity, for you see this item, which you gave 1 star in your review was picked up by myself in a charity shop for my own ds, who loves it despite it having no trains inside (possibly because he hasn't realised that it opens up yet) so you can rest assured that your disapointment has brought joy to another child.

catchmeifyoucan · 04/04/2011 10:17

If this is not a wind up then OP you may wish to have a quiet word with yourself. Stalkerish behaviour or what?

Hassled · 04/04/2011 10:17

That Henry is a very lucky little prince.

I've always fancied the Brum car, though. If they had a adult sized version I'd remortgage the kids for it.

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 04/04/2011 10:21

I swear it was a complete coincidence I came across the Thomas case!!!

She has only left 5 reviews so I had a look and there it was :o It was meant to be I tell you!!!!!!!!

Ditto catmeifyoucan

& a massively bitchy, green eyed monster to boot Shock

babybythesea · 04/04/2011 10:23

Quite funny though!

I am intrigued by the shoes - if the child spends all his time sitting on the ride on toys does he need shoes? Bit of an unecessary overspend there!
Although I am envious of the sandpit. My dd currently has a storage box with sand in. My dh doesn't want me to buy a decent, bigger one as he wants to make one. Which is a lovely idea but isn't showing any signs of moving from idea to reality.

d0gFace · 04/04/2011 10:31

:) I'd like the dinosaur.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 04/04/2011 10:32

Well clearly, Mummytohenry, you cannot read as it quite clearly says on the information for the carry case that "Trains are not included".

I do have the little plastic rocking horse for my DS. I paid about £12 for it. So not all of Henry's toys are over £100!!

Strictly · 04/04/2011 10:39

Ummmm the toys hardly all cost £100 do they? I'm pretty sure the Baby Einstein DVD's don't, plus shoes, a German music CD, a box of Duplo and a spinning cogs toys. Hardly eye wateringly expensive are they?!

porcine · 04/04/2011 10:41

my friend have that dinosaur, it isnt that big

Strictly · 04/04/2011 10:42

Actually though that dinosaur looking frigging amazing! Shock

Strictly · 04/04/2011 10:42

Oh :( Not big enough for a fully grown adult then :( I do have a birthday coming up very soon Grin

TheBlindAssassin · 04/04/2011 10:46

Ok, I shall out myself. I am definitely not Henry's Mummy, nor am I MummytoHenry. But my tongue-in-cheek post was to make a point that mockery going the other way is usually considered highly distasteful and most people (let alone MNetters) I know would come down like a ton of bricks on it. So why oh why is it acceptable to mock someone for the toys which they buy for their children all because they seem excessive by your own (unimportant and unasked-for) standards? Rather petty, TBH, and I hope you don't expect nor teach your own children to exhibit such impolite behaviour to those more fortunate or less fortunate than they may be.

And if Henry's Mummy should ever read this, please don't feel guilty in buying your child any toys you choose to - you are his mother and are entitled to spend your family's money on your child in any way you see fit. Contrary to popular opinion, a child is not harmed by the number of toys he/she has, but rather, whether they are raised to treat others with kindness, compassion and empathy.

On that sickening note, I shall bow out. However, I am Envy with envy at the Classic Pedal Car! If they had an adult version I could definitely imagine myself my son spending hours in it!

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 04/04/2011 11:03

Er...ok, my post was not meant to poke fun at the number of toys Henry has, or because I am jealous - I could buy ds any of those things if I wanted to - how do you think I came across the list?

I was just stating that in my opinion, by claiming that all these toys were "Henry's favourites" seemed unlikely and it seemed to be more of a "look what I've bought my child" list, especially because all the "top" toys at the beginning of the list were the expensive ones. If you don't agree with me that's fine, I posted in AIBU for a reason :)

I also think I have found Henry's mummy on here because the list doesn't seem to be there anymore...

catchmeifyoucan · 04/04/2011 11:08

Weird behaviour Shiny. Very weird. Have you got nothing else to do today?

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 04/04/2011 11:10

Are you Henry's mummy catchmeifyoucan?

It's not wierd at all - I was reading reviews of one of the toys on Henry's list and Amazon suggested the list to me, so I had a look.

HauntedLittleLunatic · 04/04/2011 11:12

Erm....The link in OP no longer exists....

I wanted to be nosey Grin

comewhinewithme · 04/04/2011 11:13

Wow, nasty. Well done you. I agree very very odd.

babybumpx · 04/04/2011 11:14

TheBlindAssassin - very well said!! IMO it seems that are being very judgmental, you dont know what it means if your honest to yourself about it, your just presuming and that isnt fair, it doesnt matter what you have or where you come from and whether your standards are high or not, shes selling toys for goodness sake! who cares, your child isnt effected by it so why are you? slight bit of jealousy perhaps or resentment, perhaps you felt she was coming across as "smug" which annoyed you? Who knows but in the grand scheme of things it really doesnt matter does it...im going to have a look to see what there is as it sounds good.

babybumpx · 04/04/2011 11:16

how do I find the lists of toys etc...? lol im still finding my way
