I am up to here with the lolling and hunning.

It's not what I came here for.

[fumes]

I'd happily volumteer for the job.

The real problem is that it's pervasive and normal posters are now to be seen holling and lunning where once they were TrueToTheCause.

Sad
OP posts:

Ashamed, hunny, it's a all a joke!

catinthehat2 · 01/04/2011 13:48

when I am invited to be chief moderator on this site, there will be no more "unmumsnetty hugs"
no further warnings
you are immediately out

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 13:48

Ooops that's all a joke.

catinthehat2 · 01/04/2011 13:49

I wonder if we can get MN to automatically change the word 'hun' to 'twunt'?"

and I 'll push for that as well

ashamedandconfused · 01/04/2011 13:49

who said anyone thinks LOL is better than Grin?? but on the other hand you are allowed to think that Grin is superior to LOL?? why can there not be room for both?? genuinely curious!

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 13:51

Anyone who is 'a lady of a certain age,' ashamed, and that includes me. Sorry.

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 13:52

Catinthehat2, what happened to catinthehat1? Or is it like Thing 1 and Thing 2?

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 13:53

flowerpot - :) can only be used in certain ways.
it can be used to show support to someone in difficulty
it can be shown to reply to someone who has chosen a lovely name
it can be used passive-aggressively.

although, following lol with it probably counts as passive-aggressive Wink

ashamedandconfused · 01/04/2011 13:54

what certain age?

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 13:55

ashamed - i think this whole thread is supposed to be playground bullying.
lighten up dear :)
Wink

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 13:55

The age when ladies start fancying Gordon Ramsey, and think he's a rum cove.

catinthehat2 · 01/04/2011 13:56

Ellen -
I regenerated, I'm like Dr Who. On my 3rd incarnation now, think of me as Jon Pertwee

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 13:57

Oh, my favourite doctor. That's how you can tell I'm 'of a certain age.'

Quenelle · 01/04/2011 13:57

I agree. Soon we won't be able to say the Cunt-W either.

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 13:58

Oh, Quenelle, you are awful!

ashamedandconfused · 01/04/2011 14:00

EJ - you must be well older than me then hun because I am 40 and think GR is bleurgh!

ashamedandconfused · 01/04/2011 14:02

nickel - you can never tell on here - I thought the OP was genuinely pissed orf with the hunning etc and we were all taking the P out of her and rubbing it in Confused

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 01/04/2011 14:02

ellenjane, was that your best Kenneth Williams there Grin

GR errrrrrrr

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 14:04

anyway, Mumsnet guidelines states "do not use textspeak" and LOL is text speak. taht's why it was invented.
that means that you're not allowed to use it, by order of MNHQ.

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 14:04

ashamed - chaos is a bit mardy, that's her thing. Grin
don't worry about it.
we all take the piss out of her [wunk] etc....

Grin
EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 14:06

Ninja, don't you recognise Dick Emery? You are all so, so young. (Gordon Ramsey, yuk! I'm not that old.)

Newgolddream · 01/04/2011 14:06

Can I maybe still have a tiny lol as long as I promise not to hun?

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 14:07

But did you?, Did you really Laugh Out Loud?

Snorbs · 01/04/2011 14:08

I don't know what's worse - all the lols and huns, or all the bloody typos caused by people using sodding iPhones and iPads to post rather than devices with proper sodding keyboards that you can actually sodding type on properly without missing half the sodding letters.

Mumsnet used to be a (relative) haven of good spelling. People used to use capital letters at the beginning of sentences, proper punctuation and everything. Now it's gone to the dogs. Steve Jobs has a lot to answer for.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 01/04/2011 14:08

ellenjane, of course, brain has packed in!
