I am up to here with the lolling and hunning.

It's not what I came here for.

[fumes]

I'd happily volumteer for the job.

The real problem is that it's pervasive and normal posters are now to be seen holling and lunning where once they were TrueToTheCause.

Sad

where's the OP?? - gone for a lie down i shouldn't wonder,if she genuinely came on looking for like minded MNers and all she got was a load of flippant replies

Chaos, we are sorry please come back hun

FunnysInTheGarden · 01/04/2011 13:29

hmmm, the mere fact that a sizeable minority do not understand your point Chaos, proves it.

If you are a MNetter it is your DUTY to understand what lolling and hunning are and why they are highly undesirable.

It's all gone too far, it really has.......

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 13:31

god, Chaos, you frightened me there!
i thought you were going to be a hunner!

thank god you were being serious Grin

huns and lols out !

JaneS · 01/04/2011 13:32

YANBU. This is why we have Wine, no?

ashamedandconfused · 01/04/2011 13:33

but seriously, we all joined MN for different reasons and in different ways - i fouind this place by accident when googling something or other to do with DCs health - noone was handed a contract or rules of membership leaflet, and we all make it up as we go along

WHO ACTUALLY SAYS that hunning and lolling are not allowed here? when,as some posters say, they use these terms in their every day lives quite freely

some people just dont like newbies coming in and things changing - Moldies all over again??

why not just enjoy MN for whatever you get out of it and ignore the bits you dont like? or just accept the variety we have here, live and let live?

JaneS · 01/04/2011 13:33

Btw, does anyone else find themselves reaching for MN emoticons in inappropriate places? I keep wanting to [ grin ] and [ biscuit ] on facebook and making myself look like A Total Twat.

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 13:35

ashamed - it isn't allowed here.
it's not our style.
we are cool and sassy, and hun and lol are simpering and crap

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 13:37

I've been guilty of hugging a bit in SN, but we do need it sometimes, really. (We always apologise tho'). And I'm 46 so I will never ever LOL or hun.

NinkyNonker, is she your much younger sister by any chance?

MillsAndDoom · 01/04/2011 13:38

Nickel - "sassy" is too Boden - sorry Hun LOL

controlpantsandgladrags · 01/04/2011 13:39

lol Chaos.........you sound like you need one of these >>>> Wine hun Wink

I do agree though. Lolling is farking irritating whichever way you look at it.......why do I need to know that you are laughing???

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 13:40

I'm sorry, I'm pregnant and i can't think of any words.
someone please translate "sassy" into words that a 34 yo would use,. rather than a J17-reading 15yo.
thanks Grin

Bucharest · 01/04/2011 13:41

I hold my hand up and confess to having "hugged". And the odd "x" at the end of a supportive post.
Could we add phrases and sentences to the filter? Stuff like "it's your baby, your choice" and "happy m......happy....." No! No! It's too awful, I can't even type it without vomiting on myself.

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 13:41

yes, and why is "lol" better than Grin
surely Grin shows that you are laughing? (or taking the piss, or being silly)

Bucharest · 01/04/2011 13:42

Nickel, I have never been cool, not even when I was young enough to try to be.
It's one of my distinguishing features, uncoolness.

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 13:42

I was never cool. that's what makes me cool.

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 13:43

Sassy, umm, pert, vivacious, chirpy. Oh, these are all words a 74 year old might use...

nickelbabyhatcher · 01/04/2011 13:44

no, vivacious is good. Wink

EllenJane1 · 01/04/2011 13:44

And geek is the new cool.

well nickel, unless that was a joke, then IMO it isn't allowed here.
it's not our style.we are cool and sassy, and hun and lol are simpering and crap
sounds rather like a playground bully having a go at someone for having the wrong make of school bag or trainers, or picking on the new kids accent !!
and also, IMO, which i am allowed to give cos its a free country, its the bullies/offensive/harmful trolls on here that need moderating not the ones "polluting" MN with their use of acronymns and textspeak - and MNHQ already do a good enough job of moderating stuff that kicks off and is brought to their attention

I reckon I see as many posters who DO use these abbreviations as don't!
