I mean ffs.

Yes it is very cute that they called their dd "Bean" during pregnancy but to actually register it as a middle name on her birth certificate is just cruel!

twilight3- I've narrowed it down to 4 Facebook 'friends' that are online just now. :o But then 2 of them are family...

SoupDragon · 28/03/2011 17:19

My idle name is not daft as such but it does rhyme with my last name. Which would, most likely, have been fine had my parents not decided to use it instead of my first name Hmm

I am still bitter about it and remind them often.

There are 23 people in the U.S. named Donald Duck.

It's awful. It reminds me of baked beans and farts - delightful!

Jellykat · 28/03/2011 17:53

Huh, Bean is the name of my dog,he doesn't fart that often. Smile

FreudianSlippery · 28/03/2011 18:06

DH's exW called their son Luke because she was obsessed with star wars. He only just managed to avoid him getting the middle name skywalker Confused

scatteredbraincells · 28/03/2011 19:26

Haha Freudian, I named my son Dylan and it's all DH could do to stop me from giving him "Moran" for a middle name Smile

FreudianSlippery · 28/03/2011 19:30

Aww he is awesome I saw him live a few years back. Dylan Moran that is, not your DH or DS :o

Ciske · 28/03/2011 19:31

Frances Bean Cobain made it cool, so it's ok!

maighdlin · 28/03/2011 20:53

I don't think its that bad. But then again when i was pregnant i said if i had a boy i wanted to give him the middle name xavier, just so it he would be whatever X. surname. DH loved this idea, mainly though because he is an X men freak. he wanted charles xavier surname. Hmm

I don't have a silly middle name. In common with absolutely everyone else born in the 70s, I have the middle name Louise, and while I was at school I hated it and refused to reveal it to anyone, which was very easy to do (no need for anyone to see my passport and apparently my brothers couldn't remember it Hmm).

DD does have a mildly silly middle name but no one ever gets to hear it so why does it matter? My cousin's husband has a silly middle name and it gave us all a nice laugh when we first heard it at their wedding, particularly when she repeated it after the vicar in a disgusted tone of voice Grin Their DS now has a sillyish middle name.

My DSIL has the middle name Bain - not so far from bean - as it was her mum's maiden name and I think it's a Scottish tradition.

DitaVonCheese · 28/03/2011 21:53

PS if DH has his way then any son we have will have the mn Rocketpants - he is a Penn & Teller fan and apparently one of them has a daughter whose mn is Crimefighter. Was going to be Danger but apparently Austin Powers' son has that for a mn and that put him off a bit Wink

kaid100 · 28/03/2011 22:31

We gave our twins the nicknames Maisie and Daisy in the womb. We considered them for middle names, but decided it would be too cruel.

Catnao · 28/03/2011 22:51

My middle name is stupid. I SAY I don't care. But my son got JAMES. Go figure!

DitaVonCheese · 28/03/2011 23:14

One of my bf's mn is silly, or sillyish - it's a family name, Scottish name which isn't particularly girly but is always given to the oldest child for a reason I forget. She hated it when we were growing up and we did tease her (nicely) over it, though more substituting different words that began with the same letter rather than making fun of the name itself.

She has given her DD the same mn - she says she likes the family tradition :)
