Just for fun, I absolutely love the big blue ikea bags. I use them for laundry, food shopping and gardening to name a few things.

What do you use yours for?

I have the small ones - love them!!!
I use them for weekly shop, they are the perfect size for my very small car boot. I know I can fit seven full bags (even the height is perfect for my little mazda boot)

YANBU

love 'em. Use them for same things as you, also good for quick tidy up of toys, outgrown clothes to be sorted, etc

vaginiasmonalogue · 26/03/2011 15:27

I have about 10!

lizzie1180 · 26/03/2011 15:28

Glad to know I am not alone :) My DH thinks they are useful but that I may be a bit obsessed and he thinks i will find any excuse to use them just to prove how useful they are.

i have a blue ikea bag in a fabulous red and white starry print.

bet you're all jealous now eh? WinkGrin

my friend grows potatoes in her blue bag. Hmm

geordieminx · 26/03/2011 15:30

They are great for shopping, I can get weekly shopping in 3 of them which saves carrying stupid carrier bags back and forwards from the car.

MrsKwazii · 26/03/2011 15:32

They are fabulous things - and mean that I can easily hoick the washing around the house and in and out of the garden to go onto the line.

Am so jealous of the red and white starry bag chimchar
Growing potatoes, what a great idea - I grow mine in a dustbin, but I could see a blue bag working just as well.

Grin

all praise the mighty ikea bag!

Me too. I always play spotting them on holiday as well. No-one else plays with me though...

bibbitybobbityhat · 26/03/2011 16:07

Hmmm.

I like them, especially for laundry. You free up quite a bit of space in your house when you do away with a laundry basket.

But trying to fold them up flat again drives me insane. Is there a knack?

Gingefringe · 26/03/2011 16:23

I use mine to carry logs from the garden into the house.
Have also occasionally used the smallish one as a cabin bag (not the same one, obviously) then a beach bag on holiday.
Also great for laundry of course.
Are the starry ones still available? They sound lovely.
Haven't made a trip to Ikea for a while ....... maybe tomorrow.

clitorisorclitoraint · 26/03/2011 16:25

I find the straps a bit long tbh.

marriednotdead · 26/03/2011 16:39

I thought they were fab.

Until DD brought FIVE of them back from uni full of dirty washing. You can have too much of a good thing.

bibbitybobbityhat · 26/03/2011 16:40

Just youtubed how to fold an ikea bag and found . Sometimes you gotta love the internet Grin.

marriednotdead · 26/03/2011 17:51

That's so silly. You just follow the creases don't you?

But I love more Grin

lizzie1180 · 26/03/2011 18:52

Love it, Just off to fold all my bags now :o
Sadly have no cats to wrap up.

Just folded my downstairs ikea bag (even though I know I am going to need to use it in about an hour when I empty the washing machine) and feel v v v satisfied. Like I have learned a new lifeskill, something I can pass on to the dc when the time comes etc ...

Ineedalife · 26/03/2011 19:03

Another fan here, we use them for shopping, ironing, beach bags, swimming bags etc.

My Dd1 used about 15 to move house!!

I dread her coming round with them now though because it usually means her washing machine has brokenSad.

We never fold them, we just stuff them in to a hidey hole in our under the stairs cupboard.Smile.

FessaEst · 26/03/2011 19:06

Ikea bags are great. My friends used to laugh at me for turning up to DD's swimming lessons with our stuff in them, but others have caught on to how much easier it can make things - you can even stick a dry baby in one while you get changed!

We also use one for logs, have several on the go for laundry at different stages (stuff that goes out for ironing goes off in one too), they are handy for taking camping to transport kit form car to tent if there's a distance to cover too.

They were the best thing ever when we moved house. I used them for all the toys and for books. I had about 20 packed.

microserf · 26/03/2011 20:07

ikea blue bags are the best. we had to send massive loads of stuff to the laundromat for hot washes when we left our last house and the ikea blue bags totally saved the day. FessaEst, love the idea re swimming, had not thought of that!

ilovemyhens · 26/03/2011 20:10

I use a large one for laundry and we have loads for storage.

We used to put ds2 in one and carry him around the house when he was very small Grin
