To want to give Davina a great big hug

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 21:30

and a Wine

She's trying so hard not to cry after every film and it's breaking my heart. I bet she can't wait to give her babies a cuddle. I'm going up every 2 minutes to cuddle mine and thank god we're so lucky.

Watching the guy wo had to chose which child to not have the oxygen puts my annoyance at my PC not working properly today in to perspective.

Gotta love Davina

HowBreastfeedingWorks · 18/03/2011 22:46

Davina advertises for Nestle-owned L'Oreal - I can't get too worked up over how sad she looks, I'm afraid.

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 22:47

What does Davina have to do with Nestle? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

OP posts:
HowBreastfeedingWorks · 18/03/2011 22:49

Hey, Drizzela, she advertises a Garnier hair colourant and Garnier are a L'Oreal company. Nestle own L'Oreal and promote formula in countries which have sanitation issues such as you have seen if you've been watching Comic Relief this evening.

If you read the link that BALD has just posted, it'll outline more why Comic Relief need to do a bit of joined-up thinking re boycotting Nestle (and not using Davina until she stops taking Nestle money).

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 22:49

Fair enough then. That's disappointing.

LoopyLoopsChupaChups · 18/03/2011 22:50

I think a lot of money could be raised if Gok Wan were to dress Davina appropriately for a show. She has no idea how much like mutton she usually looks (thinks of final BB nights gone by).

But I'm saving my sympathy for the kids.

perfumedlife · 18/03/2011 22:51

No, your saccharine knee jerk reaction to stage tears was the disappointment Drizzela. Too easy to weep with sentiment.

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 22:51

Thanks HBW, I knew all about Nestle, but I didnt realise Garnier were owned by Loreal and therefore Nestle.. (wanders of the check bathroom cabinet... I fear there will be casualties!)

Anyone else think that the bankers who are getting millions in bonuses should be forced to watch these films. God, if anything highlighted the obscenity of people earning gross amounts while others starved then this is it.

Let them see the little girl dying in front of them and let them make the choice of which one has to die.

God it makes my blood boil!

HowBreastfeedingWorks · 18/03/2011 22:53

Good stuff, Drizzela.

There's a list on this link of Nestle products: info.babymilkaction.org/nestleboycottlist

Thingumy · 18/03/2011 22:54

(The Body shop is owned by L'oreal now too)

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 22:55

Shock loopy I don't beleive in policing women over any age for looking like 'mutton' wearing age inappropriate clothes. I think she looks confident and healthy and therefore great.

Wow - perfumedlife saccharine's a big word. I doubt I'll ever feel disappointed in myself for feeling pity for someone who is clearly sad. Nestle aside, she was upset. That face was nothing like the insincere face of BB.

Thanks HBW. The Bodyshop?? Wow.

It's the fucking footballers that piss me off twoifbythesea where are they tonight?

OP posts:
perfumedlife · 18/03/2011 22:59

But Drizz, she is the last person who needs your pity, she is taking the dirty money of a company contributing, directly, to the misery in the African continent. And, unlike you until five minutes ago, she knew full well what that company stood for. She has advisors galore, and she still took the money, even as a mother. Christ, even as a daughter abandoned by her own mother, she took the money.

She put her financial comfort over the starving babies, makes you all warm and fuzzy.

Greythorne · 18/03/2011 22:59

But the money for the causes or for themselves?

sharbie · 18/03/2011 23:01

sooooooooooo...dandy do you think they get paid tonight??

can't hear em all decrying they are donating their fees

Thingumy · 18/03/2011 23:02

It's the fucking footballers that piss me off twoifbythesea where are they tonight?

Aren't the films enough or do you need peter crouch over there filming to help bring home the suffering these people are goignt hrough?

Does anyone know the total funds comic relief has raised throughout the years?

Why is still not helping?

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 23:03

But if I only knew that 5 minutes ago, why be so disappointed in my initial reaction?

If I see a woman who I know to be a mother, visibly upset in the scenario she was in, my heart immediately goes out to her... surely that's just human.

I'm not going to stop what I'm doing, research all the companies she works for (I pay no attention to advertising and havent noticed that she advertises that product), make sure that none of them are affiliated with Nestle, and then decide if to feel sympathy for them or not...

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 23:06

I didn't think they got paid for tonight... surely that would be outrageous??

I certainly do not need to see any footballer on TV. I'm just commenting on how they are under represented when it comes to things tlike this. Maybe if some of the big names were involved it would reach more people. Teenage boys... maybe? They'll do anything if a footballer says it's cool.

Because, the sheep of this world are all cosy in their smug warm and fluffiness and, unless they actively read the press, web sites and educate themselves, they are content to live on in ignorant bliss, whilst looking down on people who don't share their rosy world view of the world.

You were all happy with yourself for being sentimental and caring, as if others don't care. Guess what, caring means making an effort to get to the truth behind the headlines, the glitz and the smaltz.

That's what's dissapointing, in my eyes.
Doesn't make you a bad person.

glasnost · 18/03/2011 23:09

Have just been sobbing at film on poor benta who died 3 days before her baby nicholas and am raging as well as how the fuck did the peolpe filming stand back and not intervene? Am finding it all quite manipulative and upsetting and haveto turn off. And straight from that film to a comedy sketch.

Davina et al should give a year's income and stop laying guilt tris on us poor types. (compared to them).

sharbie · 18/03/2011 23:09

oh drizz Grin

bikermoll · 18/03/2011 23:12

I can't stand the way that Comic Relief and Children in Need etc promote " look at me " charity giving. It encourages people, and especially youngsters ,to believe that charity giving is all about having a laugh and making a big song and dance about donating . Surely donating to charity should be about thinking calmly about which charity strikes a chord and seems to do worthwhile work .I give money and time to several charities of my choosing and have never felt the need to tell everyone about it or dress up in silly outfits. Perhaps the slebs involved in Comic Relief ,many of whom must be millionaires , could all donate a substantial amount to the cause ( and to be fair , many may do ) instead of soliciting donations from Joe Public on the minimum wage .
PS Definitely a shovel . And Claudia Winkleman _ why ?
