and a Wine

She's trying so hard not to cry after every film and it's breaking my heart. I bet she can't wait to give her babies a cuddle. I'm going up every 2 minutes to cuddle mine and thank god we're so lucky.

Watching the guy wo had to chose which child to not have the oxygen puts my annoyance at my PC not working properly today in to perspective.

Do you need a sleb to tell you to donate then pig?

PigValentine · 18/03/2011 22:11

No - I'm a charity fundraiser and I know that the majority of people who give to charity do so because they are asked. The "celebrity event" is a high profile gift solicitation mechanism. And it works.

lusciousliz · 18/03/2011 22:12

not with me it doesnt

positively puts me off from donating

geordieminx · 18/03/2011 22:12

I'd like to hit her with a shovel too.

Total over acting with Graham norton. No neeeeeed

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 22:13

schroeder I guess that's the point. I've got a big heart, I don't feel he need to choose who is most deserving of my sympathy and save it only for them. I sand by my original thought Grin

Thingumy I don't need a celeb to tell me to donate but without Comic Relief would people have donated £40,000000 quid tonight Hmm ? It is completley run by celebs.

OP posts:
PigValentine · 18/03/2011 22:13

WHy does it put you off?

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 22:15

beore you jump on me - I don't mean all the behind the sceens stuff and fundraising is run by celebs. I mean that the celebrities run the show.

IQuiteLikeVodka · 18/03/2011 22:20

I didn't see it,am not watching it...but I'll join in with the shovel hitting of that bloody annoying woman/pleb

Mrsmackie · 18/03/2011 22:20

Thingumy - all very well what you are saying (I too regularly donate to certain charities and don't need celebrities to influence me) however I do think that many people do only give to charity when they watch events such as Comic Relief, Children in Need etc. Surely therefore it's a good thing that celebrities do get involved if it means that they can raise awareness and ultimately get people to donate (who might not normally think to do so).

magaddict · 18/03/2011 22:21

YABU.

perfumedlife · 18/03/2011 22:22

The problem I have with celeb charity, indeed, many charities full stop, is that the money doesn't solve the problem. There is a growing school of thought that it worsens it.

Thingumy · 18/03/2011 22:25

I hear what you are saying Mrsmackie.

I just don't feel sorry for the them, they don't break my heart.

It's sad when your world only gives money to much needed causes because we are 'entertained' by lots of slebs asking you to do so.

Most people will be talking about the slebs tomorrow and not the causes.

southeastastra · 18/03/2011 22:26

i would rather my licence fee went to charities rather than subsidising the bloated bbc

EricNorthmansMistress · 18/03/2011 22:29

'I'm far better than these drones who only donate when slebs tell them to, in fact I purposely don't donate to comic relief'

YAWN

£40 million quid raised this year, so far. Text donations are a stroke of genius. Literally hundreds of thousands of people will text in a quid or two who would never usually donate to charity, too skint, or ignorant, or lazy, but comic relief gets them handing over a little bit. Some of the slebs have really pulled out all the stops too - Chris Moyles and comedy Dave raised £2.4mil from radio one listeners, thousands of whom were probably teenagers. I love comic relief, it's bloody brilliant. Of course it would be better if it wasn't necessary, but it is.

BettyTurnip · 18/03/2011 22:29

I can't stand seeing overpaid... well, millionaire actually... pricks imploring the (hard-up) masses to give 'whatever you can'. Fucking Bono, TakeThat, whoever. Sticks in my craw.

Thingumy · 18/03/2011 22:34

Good for her

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 22:37

The website's a stroke of genius too... the lowest amount it suggests is £30... of course you can donate less. I went online to send £20 and decided on £30 as soon as I saw the banner.

Shallow? maybe. But we can't all be perfect hey.

Thingumy · 18/03/2011 22:40

I did a hollow laugh at the other sleb (who is she?) attempt at helping by holding up the japanese flag.

Twat.

Drizzela · 18/03/2011 22:42

Thingumy I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. But yes, I do think it was a good thing she did.

You shouldn't read the Mail though, it'll turn you blind. What's with the "instead of leaving (her son) with a nanny" as though that sets her apart as a really good person. God I hate that stupid rag.

OP posts:
Thingumy · 18/03/2011 22:44

I wasn't being sarcastic,I was praising her for doing a good thing and donating some of her wealth.

I'll admit that the DM is my filthy secret though.
