to put my hair in a ponytail....and chop it off?!

im sick of my hair,its too long and straggly.
i want it cut,but i cant really afford a hairdresser and im impatient

soo if i just choped it off,would it really look that bad?!

sorry,real life got in the way for a while there!

my hair is fine and long and wavy,i already have a fringe,so i reckon im safe...

i think im going to do it.

i thought it looked awful too diddl. it looked a really bad DIY job. as if she had just closed her eyes and randomly chopped.

i agree about the youtube video,it looked terrible ....it wont look like that will it?!!

I think it was because she´d tipped her head over so there was such a difference in lengths.

DO NOT TIP HEAD.

The hair with roots closest to where you're cutting will be shorter, that with roots further away will be longer.

If you do the pony tail on top of the head, don't cut too close to the head, or you'll end up with a spikey top.

I remember someone on MSE saying they'd ended up Suzy Quatro stylee.

lol, Mnay year ago I saw a tv series called 'house of elliot' (?), and really liked the dark bob of one of the characters so put my hair in a ponytail and chopped it off. It looked fantastic, and just how I though it would, ie bit swingy as longer at the sides.

Right, I've been inspired by this thread and am going to hack at my witchy split ended hair right now. I think I'll try the bunches method. I've never cut my own hair before and it's quite long, straight and thick. I'll be back in a mo....

diddl I agree, but my hair is curly and think the 'ponytail' haircut works better when hair not straight.

That was fun. My bin is full of hair . I think I took a good five inches off.

The right side looks pretty good but the left side seems to have several different lengths going on. I'll get my mum to straighten it up tomorrow.

I'm pleased I did it :) I particularly enjoyed trying to give myself choppy layers while dangling my head over the bin [classy bird emoticon].

well i hacked cut my ponytail off and then tidyed up the sides...it all
right,bit boring,might give myself some more layers tomorow.

very glad i did it though,my head feels so much lighter and it was much easier to brush!

i took off a lot ,still,i bet DP doesnt notice
