which don't even have a smell FFS! Nor do I want it to smell of some sort of composite idea like Sunny Days, whatever the hell that is.

I want to use fabric conditioner which smells of something nice like, oh, apple.

Yes, I want it to smell of apples. Have these ridiculous people ever heard of them? Apples are real things which have a real smell.

Can I get a fc which smells of apple? I CANNOT. All I can get is bloody jewels or other abstract nonsense.

HOw about "Sea Breeze?" The lovely smell of fish, salt water and seaweed?

pommedeterre · 17/03/2011 11:39

I like the smell of fairy non bio conditioner? I use fairy non bio for us all since started using it when dd was tiny wee.

It doesn't smell of apples though so that may be no help at all.

Desperateforthinnerthighs · 17/03/2011 11:39

Dunno but personally I love the green or orange comfort, so nice and snuggly!!!!!!!!!!!

Diamonds...pah....just an excuse to slap another couple of quid on it!

Clumsymum · 17/03/2011 11:40

What bugs me is that the detergent has one scent, the conditioner has another. Why? it comes out of the washer smelling really sickly sometimes.

I understand some folk buy scented ironing water too !

squeakytoy · 17/03/2011 11:41

I would like everything to smell of cherries. But other than wafting my yankee diffuser near everything, it wont happen... Grin

At the moment I have Sunshine Orchard though (Surf) which is very pleasant.

squeakytoy · 17/03/2011 11:42

Blush (has scented ironing water)

bamboobutton · 17/03/2011 11:43

use soap nuts and your washing really will smell of fresh air.

lovely.

squeakytoy · 17/03/2011 11:44

I use the washing line for that effect Bamboo Wink.. its free!

bibbitybobbityhat · 17/03/2011 11:46

I use the lavender ones. Lovely. Sainsbos is good.

comewhinewithme · 17/03/2011 11:46

If you go to the States you can pick some up

bamboobutton · 17/03/2011 11:48

i don't have a washing lineSad

MadameOvary · 17/03/2011 11:49

Just bung some essential oil in the last bit of the washing cycle - easy-peasy.
Can you get unscented FC's? Obv you'd need that too.

Cant abide perfumed shit - makes me itch.

MrsH75 · 17/03/2011 11:51

I noticed some scents of Fairy Liquid cost 50p more than the original or lemon- basically 50% more. So I bought Cussons which was 80p and had 50% extra free too.

QueenofDreams · 17/03/2011 11:53

I echo bamboo soap nuts get my DC's clothes smelling clean and fresh. no blasted cloying scent. and no poncy 'diamond and orchid' logo on it to justify the exorbitant price.

Just clean fresh clothes. It's wonderful. MIL uses persil and you can smell her coming a mile off. Oh and since I switched from detergent to soap nuts DS's skin has improved so much!

MissVerinder · 17/03/2011 11:53

Noooooo! Don't buy scented ironing water! Put a wee drop of fabric conditioner in a spray bottle with some warm water and use that instead. Or if you're well crunchy, some "essential oils."

QueenofDreams · 17/03/2011 11:54

MrsH I love cussons lemon scented washing up liquid. also tesco own brand lemon washing up liquid. I'm addicted to that scent Grin

nectarina · 17/03/2011 11:55

i like the smell of ecover fc - a bit lavendary. to be honest i don't like having so much choice.

LunaticIsOnTheGrass · 17/03/2011 12:00

Lidl do an apple smelling fabric conditioner Grin.

Doussy I think - The green one.

I Can't remember ever seeing it anywhere else so I presume it must be own brand, quite reasonably priced as well Smile.

ladyfirenze · 17/03/2011 12:07

are you people for real? Grin

Jux · 17/03/2011 19:04

We use Cussons too because it's cheap and doesn't really smell of anything except w.up.liq.

I can only use Persil Non-Bio because dh won't have anything else on his baby-sensitive skin Grin but it's OK because it smells of washing (clean!). DH won't use fc because of his baby-sensitive skin, but I prefer my clothes to be less scratchy and so does dd.

I've got soap nuts but if dh catches me using them then he complains about the wash because nothing "smells clean" GrinGrin. I have tried the "nothing smells washing powder" line but it doesn't work. If he should ever decide that washing powder is too expensive then he'll like them. Until then, I want my washing to smell of apples (when dh's stuff isn't included).

Thank you for the Lidl tip, Lunatic; we don't have a Lidl yet - they're building one down the road though, so I may not have to wait too much longer.

On the same subject, at our local supermarket I bought some bleach, but all the usual stuff was gone and I bought some stuff in a green bottle labelled lime zest. Guess what it smells of.......

BLEACH

jux I love the smell of bleach. While I was pregnant my two cravings were the smell of bleach (diluted) and the smell of cussons washing up liquid. I had a few nights where i was up and bleaching my kitchen at 3 am Grin

QuintessentialShadows · 18/03/2011 11:08

Yes, I have the same problems with shampoo. I recently choked on the ingredients list, when I found that my shampoo contained, crushed shimmering pearls, silk, cashmere, diamonds and goats milk. WTF! Confused I never knew these had any cleaning properties, aside from maybe the goats milk....

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 18/03/2011 11:28

Quint - isn't it ridiculous, I think I used to use that one - John Frieda?

We use Persil non-bio, and then Comfort Pure fabric conditioner. I love the smell, it just smells clean. Can't bear all the stinky stuff, plus it makes me itch.

BikeRunSki · 18/03/2011 11:35

Asda Eco laundry stuff smells of cinnamon. It is lovely.

steamedtreaclesponge · 18/03/2011 11:39

Hmm... I mostly use ecoballs, so all my wet clothes smell of... wet clothes Grin

I quite like that though. I don't know why everything has to be fragranced these days.
