rub her gums with your little finger?

TheVisitor · 14/03/2011 23:22

If you have any calpol or similar, get that down her, 2.5ml. If you have Anbesol or Bonjela, put that on her gums. Failing that, give her something cold to chew on.

moaningminniewhingesagain · 14/03/2011 23:23

Ibuprofen

Chilled teething ring

Anbesol liquid stuff from chemist or teething powders.

ZacknJakesMuma · 14/03/2011 23:25

Calpol! Then tomorrow get some homeopathic teething granules to rub on her gums. I use Teetha made by Nelsons they sell it in Boots and most health stores. Good luck!

JetSetWilly · 14/03/2011 23:26

Are you certain it's teething?

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 14/03/2011 23:32

Well... It's been very sudden, painful cries...

Such dribbling, with red rashy cheeks a few hours ago?

Xx

Hot bottom is a sign too I seem to recall...

Or is that more usually associated with the last teeth?

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 14/03/2011 23:36

She's my first, can you tell??! ;)

I felt just like I was starting to get the hang of this mummy thing!! Then this... Square one! :)

if it's an unusual cry for her it's always best seeking help with a small baby... it could be anything so best to rule out anything serious or something that may cause problems feeding (oral thrush/sore throat etc).

FortiesCromarty · 14/03/2011 23:37

Does she have a temperature?

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 14/03/2011 23:38

Actually, yesterday she suddenly became sore and hasn't been before... My mum told me to use shed loads of Vaseline as a barrier and I've been really religious about it... But yesterday she got a line if real soreness right down the.. Middle?

Homeopathic teething granules??? Shock The bullshit stuff that people will believe never fails to astonish.

OP, the usual signs of teething are flushed cheeks, stuffing anything and everything in her mouth and (with my DCs) pulling at their ears. A raised temperature and a runny bottom were also tell-tale signs although those symptoms can be caused by other problems of course. If it is teething then Calpol and something safe for them to chew on will help.

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 14/03/2011 23:41

What is corn beefy??? :o

grandmaagain · 14/03/2011 23:42

is she feeding as normal and are her nappies the usual colour?

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 14/03/2011 23:42

I feel crap... I've never even thought to sniff her ears or anything Blush

But doing now and smells fine... She's so so so upset! Screaming! Never had this before...

ShowOfHands · 14/03/2011 23:43

Teething granules like Nelsons and Ashton and Parsons are actually very effective Snorbs and I'm no airy fairy woo devotee.

A sudden and very distressed cry I'd get checked out tbh.

grandmaagain · 14/03/2011 23:44

will she suck a dummy?

Corn beefy is mottled, like corn beef. Extreme example here.

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 14/03/2011 23:45

She'll suck a dummy for seconds then spit it out...

FlaminGreatGallah · 14/03/2011 23:45

Snorbs... I once bought an amber teething necklace for my PFB after taking "advice" from Babyworld huns elsewhere Blush

blinks · 14/03/2011 23:46

honestly, if a baby is continuously crying for 2hrs+ and/or has an unusual/high pitched cry, you're best not to self triage and just get them seen asap.

it's a pain in the arse if it's just teething but it really is advisable.

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 14/03/2011 23:46

Thanks... No, she's not corn beefy... She seemed fine about 4ish.. Was laughing at me on her mat! :s
