I've got morning sickness and it's an hour to hour job working out what I can eat or drink that won't make me gag / feel awful.

Now usually I'm a tap water kinda gal, but at the moment I can't stomach it, or any other kind of drink. Yesterday I discovered ice cold mineral water with lemon slices in goes down reasonably ok.

Soooooooo, DH was off to the supermarket today, so I ask him for a bottle of mineral water. He say's "will the basics 16p stuff do?" I said "but that's not even mineral water!".

Off he went, and brought me back.....16p basics sainsburys table water!!!!

I wasn't asking for Evian, or San Peligrino, just the own-brand stuff that's 60p. Surely if I'm feeling this delicate I can expect to be bought what I asked for?! I know we're in the middle of an economic downturn, but we've got no money problems, he's just stingy!

Yanbu another hyperemesis sufferer here. The only thing that kept me going for months were Polar Ice Cubes (made from mineral water) and Calypso Icicles (ice pops made with mineral water).

YANBU. It is vital to get exactly the right things when you have pregnancy sickness.

Have you taught him the error of his ways?

During both of my friends pregnancies she had massive cravings for Parma Violets.

Only one shop sold them. Her house was between mine and the town centre and every time I went shopping, I would pop into this shop, buy 5 or 6 packs and then drop them off on my way home, often posting them through her letterbox while she wasn't there.

She said on those days when she got home with a grotty toddler in tow, tired out from being huge and pregnant, finding those parma violets on the doormat would be the highlight of her day Grin

The Karma didn't help though, I got awful MS with both of my pregnancies Sad

Mints helped as they mask the smell of everything else meaning they can't make you heave and Ice lollies. Orange ones worked best for me but I think it was the ice coldness that helped.

Hope you feel better soon

I had a glass of the rubbish water tonight and it didn't send me rushing to the bathroom, though I do feel slightly better today. I told DH about this thread and he didn't believe me that you were all (well, except Fabbychic) on my side! Fabbychic I did tell him to get me mineral water, the cheapest own brand was fine, but I definitely wanted mineral water. The tight git got me tap water in a bottle, hmph!

I also really fancy some Foxes Galcier Fruits or Glacier Mints, but my local sainsburys don't sell any type of boiled sweet at all, what's going on there?!

Dont send him for your sweets he could come back with anything!

maxybrown · 15/03/2011 07:50

can I just say, the cheap water in a bottle tastes NOTHING like my tap water in any way shape or form! I am not pregnant an can't stomach our tap water, smells like a swiiming pool!
