to deliberately conceive a Christmas baby?

If I were to get pregnant this month, the baby would be due in mid-December. Is it unfair to give a child a birthday that is so close to Christmas?

I am 38 and I suppose that's why I'm a bit uncomfortable about hanging about. Time is not on my side. Having said that, I was very lucky that DS was conceived the same month we started trying, and my whole family is full of honeymoon babies and 'happy accidents' - so there's a fair chance that if we try this week there will be a baby here in December 2011...

AIBU? Does anybody have experience of birthdays being in December?

My Dd was born on boxing day and was a week late. I didn't plan the pregnancy, so the date was not an issue, but I definitely would not have chosen it for a child. She gets no birthday parties because no one can make it, they are understandably too busy; even before and after Christmas. People want to combine her Christmas and birthday gifts, and she gets no recognition of her day at school because everyone is on holidays. There are limited cakes available in the shops, and cards (though if you remember, you can buy it early). I just would never have wished that all on her.

Should say that she's 4.

I have March, June and July babies, and was feeling rather proud of mscelf until I realised that our DC 4 is due three days before DC3's birthday. And my babies are always a bit late. Poor kids! My Ob said he will induce me at term if things look 'ready'...hope so!
