A while back, I remember a thread on here about a tee shirt company flogging tee shirts which ridiculously offensive slogans.

Well, freedom of speech and each to their own and all that.

However, am I being unreasonable in still feeling unsettled by the following...a week ago at the bowling place in Milton Keynes, a bloke who looked -well- dodgey (aged 40-50), hanging around the arcade bit at the back with video games and gambling machines wearing a tee shirt with:
"Strangers have the best sweets"

I did not do anything at the time but now a week later I am still feeling uneasy.

Not sure if I am overreacting or if I should in fact have done something.

I got mine from an alternative clothing store about 5 years ago in High Wycombe. It was a long time ago but here's a link for a similar style t-shirt with the same slogan www.supergoodtees.com/product/strangers-have-the-best-candy-t-shirt/

VivaLeBeaver · 09/03/2011 11:09

I think the t-shirt is funny, off to google and see where I can get one from.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 09/03/2011 11:10

It's a bit like the Brass Eye episode, isn't it? A tongue in cheek poke at peeeedo hysteria. The young people are ironic cool

Awhiteelephantintheroom · 09/03/2011 11:11

Am I the only one who has laughed out loud reading this thread?

OP, hope you made sure the man in the T-shirt went on the Sex Offenders register immediately! Wink

GlynisIsFixed · 09/03/2011 11:11

i can smell hammers.............

MilkNoSugarPlease · 09/03/2011 11:28

Ooh thank you Abc!!

ashamedandconfused · 09/03/2011 11:36

bad taste slogan indicating person is a twat.

same for all the other crap slogans out there

eg "I'm with the MILF" on kids clothes

nowt you can do about it though

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 09/03/2011 11:48

Maybe he wore it as a pisstake, knowing he'd have the peado on every corner idiots doing funny eyebrow dances at each other because he didn't have any kids with him ???!!!

RunAwayWife · 09/03/2011 11:49

< stifles giggle>

Aims80 · 09/03/2011 11:52

good god, get over it! It's a joke tshirt, it doesn't mean he advocates paedos! Jesus.

olderandwider · 09/03/2011 11:55

I think slogans on t shirts are attention seeking, whether they say "good" things or "bad" things.

The phrase, I think you have mistaken me for someone who gives a damn about your personal views, comes to mind.

Threelittleducks · 09/03/2011 11:55

You'd be properly offended by my dh's tee then!!

(printed before we had children btw. Yes, we thought it was hilarious at the time. No we are just horrified by it and he did have to stop wearing it when a child asked "what are the people doing on the back of the tee-shirt mummy?")

On the front: Choosy Mothers Choose (dh's name)

On the back: Two stick men At It.

It was a running joke with our group of mates about shagging each other's mothers that got waaay out of hand.
Of which you will all find either very funny or inane as fuck.
We thought it was hilarious.

Only now do we see the error of our ways. As now I am the choosy mother, ha!

Threelittleducks · 09/03/2011 11:56

*Now we are just horrified by it.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 09/03/2011 12:10

What postion were the stickmen in ducks ?

ZeroMinusZero · 09/03/2011 13:06

If I was a paedophile I'm pretty sure the last kind of shirt I would wear would be one advertising that fact. indeed I would be most likely to favour something reassuring along the lines of 'I'm not a paedo honest' or something like that.

TobyLerone · 09/03/2011 13:09

It's ok. I have informed the Daily Mail. I've told them he was an immigrant on benefits too, just to be on the safe side.

FFS.

Lemonsole · 09/03/2011 13:41

Um - I've seen people wearing these in long-ish races (10 k, half marathon). It's meant to be a way of thanking the crowds - who very often give their DCs bowls of jelly beans or other sweets to offer to the passing runners - for their support. i.e. a sweet given to you by a supportive crowd tastes twice as nice because of the generosity it comes with.

Obviously, if the wearer also had a dodgy mac and in invitation to see some puppies, I'd be more sus.

Out of context - vvvvv dodgy. In context: perhaps misjudged.

MrSpoc · 09/03/2011 13:57

Ha ha are you serious Op?

I would wear this t shirt just to wind up small minded people who see all lone males as Peados.

TobyLerone · 09/03/2011 15:20

This entire thread is very funny.

MissyKLo · 09/03/2011 15:47

What a fucking horrible slogan - not at all funny or clever or ironic

And he is an idiot for wearing such a t.shirt

Hideous -

'It's ok. I have informed the Daily Mail. I've told them he was an immigrant on benefits too, just to be on the safe side.'
