To get my coil removed

My OH doesnt want anymore kids, ive had the coil for the last four years so have sorted the contraception out. I dont particularly want to fall pregnant but think he can show some responsibility for the contraception from now on (i.e put something on the end of it or have the snip). I feel its making me a lot moodier, a lot more lethargic, far less libido and given me a massive appetite for junk. AIBU or has anyone else had a similar experience?

Totally didn't hurt me but memory of childbirth was still clear and present so thats not an objective indicator. Student actually put mine in and I did overhear mentor doc afterwards say "Well they're not all as easy to do as her ."

Depo for me was a great birth control method - as I never wanted sex at all. Don't do it for God's Sake!!!!!

Op I think it is entirely reasonable for you to want him to take responsibility.

RE Cap the reason it is not reccommended is because it is easy to get wrong. I used it very well for years recently fell pg using it but that is because I didnt check it right and when I was pg checked it properly and it had a small hole (pure laziness on my part).

Also you are suposed to use spermicide many people dont put it on right and you must leave in in for 6-8 hours after sex, many people dont do that and that is why it is not recommended.

Gemsy83, have you tried the combined pill? It can make your periods lighter and you may find you get on fine with this rather than progesterone-only.

YANBU

I had my mirena removed in June (ttc), and up until then I thought it was fabulous and would have recommeded it to anyone.

About two weeks after it was removed my whole mood lifted. I felt wonderful, and dh said it was like being married to a different woman!! I will never, ever have another one.

Previously I've had copper ones, and they were fine. Also found the mini pill was really good for me.

Someone was telling me the other day that her partner is having a new thing where they put in a clip rather than the 'snip' so it can be easily reversed at a later date if wanted. Has anyone else heard of this? Might be a good compromise for the OP (if true, person who told me is not that reliable on facts sometimes). I would get Dh to go for it if so as I've just got the Mirena and I must admit I feel a bit low and don't want sex at all. However I've got it because my periods were non-stop heavy for a year rather than for contraception so I've got to stick with it really.

he hasn't managed to get to the doctor to even discuss it.
This made me laugh as my dad only dropped in to make an appointment to talk about it and they said "oh we aren't busy, we can do it now if you like" and he came home walking funny!
