to ask my ex to not let our four year old watch WWE wrestling?

superv1xen · 07/03/2011 18:54

my ex is a fan of WWE wrestling. to the extent he actually goes to watch shows. he has our four year old son every weekend and it has become apparent that he has been letting him watch it regularly Hmm

now i hate WWE anyway, i think its absolute shite and personally think that grown adults who watch this kind of rubbish need to grow up and get a life. (ex is a 31 year old man ffs)

i just don't like it because although i know that the violence in it it is staged, i don't want DS watching it as, at 4, he will think it is real. i also worry it might influence DS to try out the moves - as my dear mother said when i asked her about it "that rubbish will just encourage rambunctious behaviour!!" :o

sadly DS thinks the sun shines out of his dads stupid arse and that everything he does or says is really cool Hmm so if daddy thinks wrestling is cool then so will DS.

OP posts:

What upset me the most is that he murdered his own son. His other children will have to live with knowing their dad killed their little brother for the rest of their lives.

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 07/03/2011 22:39

Hmm, see I could maybe understand how he could attack another adult, but not a 7 (was he 7?) year old boy...

I'm the worst conspiracy theorist though, I always doubt the official story with any situation!!

ddubsgirl · 07/03/2011 22:41

well it happens tho,too many parents killing thier children going on lately,as sick is it is,it does happen, even to well know people, marvin gaye was shot by his father and they were both grown men

BulletWithAName · 07/03/2011 22:42

Very true,ddubs, sadly.

ddubsgirl · 07/03/2011 22:45

his wife has already filed for divorce before citing he had hit her,but they tried to work through it,i guess as much as we put someone up on that pedalstall we never really know them and what goes on behind closed doors

Gemsy83 · 07/03/2011 22:48

OMG it was Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks in my day...(showing my age)

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 07/03/2011 22:50

I guess we're probably not helping the cause now, the OP was only worried abot psedo-violence, now we've brought up child-murdering drug addicts...

ddubsgirl · 07/03/2011 22:51

lol opps!

BlessedAssurance · 07/03/2011 22:53

sorry OP, we are not helping much

BulletWithAName · 07/03/2011 22:55

Hahaha yes going off on a tangent a bit there, sorry!

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 07/03/2011 22:56

I think we'd better slink away quietly, ready to watch Monday night RAW... Grin

ddubsgirl · 07/03/2011 22:56

:)

BulletWithAName · 07/03/2011 22:56

Out of interest though, does any one else watch TNA?

ddubsgirl · 07/03/2011 22:59

It was the anniversary of Eddies death when we went, Rey Mysterio and Batista did a really nice tribute

I met them in the bar after [swoon]

My DS has lost interest in WWE now Sad

musicmadness · 08/03/2011 00:01

Oh I love wwe Grin
I went to the live shows in Manchester and they were ace, I was gutted I had to leave before the end due to the trains.
OP , YABU, it is aimed at kids now anyway, it certainly wasn't when I started watching it and even then I understood everything was scripted and that I was not to attempt to copy anything.

Anyone remember Stone Cold? My young self was vaguely obsessed, Oh and Lita, I used to love watching her in the ring. Ahh memories Grin

BulletWithAName · 08/03/2011 00:06

Anyone remember Stone Cold?

REMEMBER STONE COLD?! The guy's a freaking legend!!! I love him!

BulletWithAName · 08/03/2011 00:07

And you are so right about it not being what it used to be. Since it went PG it's gone really shite IMO.

xStarGirl · 08/03/2011 08:23

TBH, WWE is so carebear these days you shouldn't be worried about a kid watching it. Comparing it now to when I used to watch it regularly (five-ten years ago) is like comparing South Park to something off the Disney Channel Hmm

Now there's barely any swearing, and if there is it's censored. Ditto with anything even slightly "racy".
If someone is hit by a chair/piledrivered/does anything mildly dangerous, they freeze the screen and cut away to after the action. (At least on the replays during daylight hours - I doubt your ex is letting them stay up til 10/11PM to watch the original broadcast!)

YABabitU. But I can see where you're coming from.

BlessedAssurance · 08/03/2011 11:55

STONE COLD STEVE AUSTEN? yummy
