To be upset to the point of tears by someone ruining my day by being a bitch?

I have been a bit down recently but was feeling much better today - especially as the sun is shining. I was feeling very optimistic actually and have had a really productive day.

Anyway was just in a long line at the post office and Ds (4) was getting a bit bored and wandered to the front of the line to have a look at another child. On his way back he brushed past a woman who immediately kissed her teeth at him and said very sarcastically "oh excuse me why don't you?". Then started giving him dirty looks. She looked at me rudely and I said "hey he is 4!". I have very good manners and would have apologised for him if she hadn't jumped down his throat so fast. She then proceeded to tell me how she has three children and they all would have said excuse me and don't I dare start on her - she was very tall and intimidating looking. To be honest I was so angry I had to leave the queue. Of course noone said anything just smiled sympathetically at me.

Took my son out to the car and then shut his fingers in the door! Just to make me feel a worse mother than I already do :( Is it too early for Wine? :(

"Kissed her teeth at him"Confused

I can't help feeling you let her get to you too much and that was why you caught your son's finger in the door so remind yourself he and you did nothing wrong and she was rude. Count to 10 and don't let idiots effect you so much.

And all of us have done something that has hurt our children. Accidents happen and it doesn't mean we are bad parents. Bad parents are those that don't care when their child is hurt.

What a bitch!

albertcamus I sympathise, and you are right that it's when you are not expecting it that it upsets you the most.

Thanks everyone :) I thought I was going to get a load of people saying "You should have taught him better manners". I think that got to me for some reason as I am a stickler for manners and she was speaking down to me like I was rude and stupid.

Yes diddl she kissed her teeth www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=kissing%20teeth. And no I am not being racist.

nikki - am confused! was it the main post office in croydon? Because that has a ticketing system - not a queue...... Confused

thumbwitch · 08/03/2011 02:04

weedle - Grin - you might be mortified but it serves the rude old bugger right! I can't stand people who think children have no right to be in a queue, like they're sub-human or something.

Without reading your link, nikki, I am assuming teeth-kissing is like tongue clicking, yes? that sort of "tchuh" noise. That's certainly how I read it anyway.

Maylee - WHAT is the point of your post?

nikki1978 · 08/03/2011 11:39

No not the main post office. The one in South Croydon. Anyway I had some Wine last night after all in all a bad day. Am over it now Grin

You could have said, very loudly, "Oh my God! I am SO sorry. Did my little boy hurt you when he brushed past you? How DREADFUL! Let me have a look. Are you injured? Would you like a seat? Or some water? Is there someone I can phone for you? I'm SO SO sorry. I feel terrible. Please forgive me." And perhaps, just perhaps, she'd have realised how ridiculous she was being...
