I'm with Bunny, I'm afraid.

tomhardyismydh · 05/03/2011 22:11

im not keen, bunny, but I wouldn't go that far Hmm

OP posts:
pigletmania · 05/03/2011 22:11

I dont like them either, sorry

backwardpossom · 05/03/2011 22:12

YANBU

They look horrid and pumps are very bad for feet. I've been suffering from muscle problems in my leg and realised recently it was pump-style shoes. I wore better supporting shoes this week and I've noticed a fair difference.

wellwisher · 05/03/2011 22:15

Can you tell us what the rest of her outfit is like? Maybe someone will have seen something else that would work?

Can she run/play in them? Presumably the "ankle cuffs" are only for stylistic purposes Hmm

tomhardyismydh · 05/03/2011 22:15

backward, she'll be wearing them for 3 hours top. i agree she would wear pumps on a daily basis.

OP posts:
backwardpossom · 05/03/2011 22:17

Fair enough, but they're bowfin' Wink

tomhardyismydh · 05/03/2011 22:18

wellwisher, they are needed tomorrow so no time. iv spent 2 weeks lookin for a shoe that fits her and traipsed round 2 high streets a city and every supermafket inbetween today and these were they only ones

OP posts:
Bogeyface · 05/03/2011 22:21

Oh for goodness sake what a load of over reactions!

They are shoes she will wear for a few hours at a party and then probably prance around the house in as dress up shoes. OK so they are not particularly attractive and I am not keen but I know that my 6 and 9 year olds would both give their right arms to have a pair!

Part of being a little girl is dressing up and thats all this is!

And as for them ruining her feet, well yes if she was wearing them daily that would be true. BUt as a dressing up shoe to wear occasionally for a few hours, they are not going to render her bunion ridden for the rest of her life! Get a grip ffs!

tomhardyismydh · 05/03/2011 22:24

Grin @ boggyface. I have had nightmare looking for bloody shoes, so tanks.

OP posts:
Mendeleyev · 05/03/2011 22:25

Well said Bogeyface

Willabywallaby · 05/03/2011 22:25

I think they look cheap and nasty, please will you charity shop them after the party?

solvendie · 05/03/2011 22:27

Wow. I'm a bit amazed at the strength of opinions against these shoes and the tone of some of the posts. I would reserve this kind of kicking for leather hot pants but each to their own. OP - I'm sure they will be fine to go with your DD's party outfit and I doubt they'll do any harm. Obviously not meant for regular use but I wouldn't fret for a one off.

backwardpossom · 05/03/2011 22:27

Can I just clarify that I didn't realise they were for a party when I made the post about them being bad for her feet as I'd only read the original post which didn't mention it.

Anyhoo...

fit2drop · 05/03/2011 22:31

Absolutely what Bogeyface said ^^

and so what if they are cheap, just means they won't last that long ayway, but as long as they last long enough to keep the little birthday girl happy and confident in her outfit on her special day , no problem really.

Hope she enjoys her birthday party muchly bless her, little fashionista Grin

goingmadinthecountry · 05/03/2011 22:34

I really don't like them - black shoes should be for school only and not of that type. Or lovely shiny party shoes. That said my youngest has a fair few pairs of ballet pumps from H and M - lovely colours and very cheap. Fine for parties.

The worst shoes in the world are those Clarks abominations with dolls in the heel - flatly refuse to buy them for reasons of taste, or maybe Lelli Kellys are worse.

tomhardyismydh · 05/03/2011 22:35

thanks fit2drop. Grin

lovenamechange100 · 05/03/2011 22:36

Not for school shoes but they wud look ok with a suitable fashionable outfit, but then black IMO is boring for out of school outfits.

I am not a fan of 'little me/catcwalk fasions' I can thin of worse

So no not crazy but not really bad.

How did your DD fell about them, have you tried showing her pic online of options before your trail highstreets (appreciate you have to try on)

tigerchilli · 05/03/2011 22:42

I'm with boggyface and some other posters. It's a child learning how to develop and express her own individual style.

They are for a party, dressing up and feeling that she's making her own personal statement. She'll probably look at photos in 20yrs time and think "what the hell was my mother thinking of 'letting' me wear those!" Grin

Good on you OP for encouraging some creative expression and individuality in your DD.

tomhardyismydh · 05/03/2011 22:44

she kiked them, tbh but usualy as most 5 yr olds she tends to go with what is suitable, i was originally out for a sensile dainty flat shoe with a strap.

her otfit is a cream dress with a black waist band. it needed to be a black or cream shoe.

but heyhoo we have them now. they do look fine on, although wouldnt be my best choice im sure they will have no negative impact to her birthday party.

OP posts:
tomhardyismydh · 05/03/2011 22:46

have keyboard ishoos sorry for typos

OP posts:
kslatts · 05/03/2011 22:49

They wouldn't be my first choice, but they are not that bad for a party. If she is happy with them and they are going to be worn to her party for a few hours, I don't see the problem.

Some massive over reactions on this thread!

mumbar · 05/03/2011 22:50

I actually love these shoes.

Not sure on a 5yo DD - but I have a DS so not really something I could comment on honestly. As in if I had a 5yo DD desperate for a pair I may feel differently!!

I would think though that they re more pratical for a 5yo. They aren't going to fall off so probably safer when running around a party. And they are for special wear so the flimsyness (sp?) of them doesn't really matter.

OP, I didn't mean 'looking back' in a negative way, just it is common occurrence to refer back to fashion fads and desires of our childhood with a tad of embarrassment. No reflection on you at all and I'm sorry if I came across that way. Smile
