I was telling my husband that I had caught the chap behind me in the supermarket queue opening his tub of bombay mix and dipping his tongue into it. Chap and I locked eyes, he froze, I looked away and smirked, and he blushed and put his bombay mix back in his trolley. It was quite funny. Not really the greatest anecdote ever told, but not much happens to me these days so it's the best I have.

Anyway, husband totally ignored my brilliant anecdote and asked me what I meant by dipping his tongue into the bombay mix.

I explained. You know, when you have a bowl of something small and dry like bashed up crisps or cereal or bombay mix, and instead of getting your hand all greasy you dip your tongue in and all the bits stick to it and you whip your tongue back into your mouth and crunch.

Husband looked blank.

"Oh COME ON!" I shrieked, "EVERYONE does this"

"What, in the supermarket?" asked my confused husband.

No, not in the supermarket. In the kitchen all alone. When no one is looking. It is not pleasant behaviour, but everyone does it. And that was why my anecdote was mildly amusing - because it is secret, at home behaviour, like picking your nose.

Husband still looked blank. He has never done this in his life. I even went and opened a packet of bombay mix to demonstrate. Other than finding me wildly alluring of course, husband was unmoved.

Is he an alien pretending to be a human? Have I just blown his cover?

I also eat the top off creme eggs then stick my finger in and wipe out all the cream, saving the rest of the chocolate until last.

One freezing winters day I went to open a metal 5 bar gate but the lock was frozen. I thought if I breathed enough warm air into the lock I might be able to defrost it enough to get the key in.

Unfortunately I put my mouth too close and got my top lip stuck to the padlock.

The thought of someone coming along and seeing me like that roused me into action so I pulled my head back and removed most of the skin from my lip.

So not only embarrassing but fucking painful too.

I did this just today!!! End of a packet of Japanese rice crackers. Husband caught me at it and rolled his eyes and smirked; it's not the first time he's caught me doing it.

Usually reserved for yummy flavouring left in the bottom of a packet of dry roasted peanuts though.

I have never done this or heard of it. Me and husband are laughing at how very bizarre this would be to do in the supermarket or at home.

Of course I do this - can't believe so many people (aliens) don't. Not in shops though as I never eat anything before I pay for it....it was drummed into me by my DM that it was stealing.

I didn't realise you weren't meant to do it with shared bombay mix though....we always pour the packet into a bowl to eat it (so we don't rustle the wrapper whilst watching TV) and I quite regularly stick my tongue in the bowl before passing it to DH.....It works well with sugar puffs too.

Actually, I also swig from bottles/juice and put them back in the fridge.

at lizards!! I do sometimes turn on/off light switches with my tongue if I have both hands full, eg when carring a bowl of bombay mix and bottle of beer out of the kitchen into the sitting room. Sometimes I use my bottom lip, but often my tongue. It isn't forked or green or anything though....although that WOULD explain the hideous scaly skin on my legs...

I do this with the bits in the corner of the wrapping off a Flake chocolate bar mmmm scrummy it all melts on your tongue i reccommend it to everyone!

I would lick the flavouring off pringles or any crisps (and then eat the crisps, I am not mental). But sticking my tongue in bombay mix!

kirstyjc I have turned off light switches with my chin, never tried tongue as not too hygienic in my house! You never know where people's hands have been.
